Error Loading The Tcp Mib Library Windows 2000
Guest Hi everybody, I enountered this problem when installing a new TCP/IP printer and found that a lot of people also have this error. The solution shown in MS KB Article Q261302 did not really work. By using Sysinternals FileMon and error loading the tcp mib library xp comparing against a working W2K server system I finally found the file which caused the problem cannot load wizard pages for standard tcp/ip port (no idea from where I got it): snmpapi.dll The non-working version in c:\winnt was 4.0.1381.164 and the filesize was 25KB. After replacing it with the version 5.0.2195.6601 from c:\winnt\system32 (18K B), I was able to install a new TCP/IP printer again!!! I hope, this hint helps all of you with the same problem... Peter, Feb 9, 2004. Peter Guest I am Having trouble adding a TCP/IP printer port. I keep getting the same message: Error Loading the TCP MIB Library I tried folling the instructions on this document: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;261302 And still it did not work. Should I just re-install Windows 2000 Professional?? or any other ideas??? thx Peter Peter, Feb 9, 2004 #1 Advertisements Felix Maxa [MSFT] Guest Do you have any of the files mentioned in the KB present in %systemroot%? How about in %systemroot%\system32? How about in %systemroot%\system32\dllcache? I would look at the http://www.printerforums.net/threads/problem-solved-error-loading-the-tcp-mib-library.30002/ timestamps and file versions for all those files to see when they were built and by whom. If they don't seem to belong to the OS (compare against time and fileversion of kernel32.dll), I would replace only the affected files. If the OS is stable, except for the tcpmib problem, there shouldn't be a need for reinstalling it. If you find that the mentioned binaries need to http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/error-loading-the-tcp-mib-library-error-when-you-add-a-standard-tcp-ip-printer.1571512/ be replaced, the Windows CD has all those files and you can restore them from there. The files are in the i386 directory on the CD, are compressed, and have names like tcpmib.dl_ You can use the "expand -r" (type expand /? for usage in a cmd) for that. -- Felix Maxa Microsoft Printing, Imaging and Fax Team This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. As per Microsoft they say it is because of THIS ,, I have tried that and it does not solve the problem....... I also un-installed TCPIP and then reinstalled it to see it that would help,, but it obviously didn’t. Has anyone run into this before or have any ideas, before I rebuild,,, I would really prefer not to reload OS because this is my Work RIG and it will be a pain in the you know what.
