DataStage is unable to load the data using default options. Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) Site has a Unicode enabled file containing multiple tab delimited columns, plus an extra x'FFFE' at start of file. When reading this file, depending on site settings for NLS MAP (i.e. UTF-16) and file format, they either get all columns set to blanks when "view data" or they receive various errors reading file. Resolving the problem Make the following 2 changes to allow DataStage to correctly read the Unicode encoded file: Update NLS map for the sequential file stage to be UTF-16BE instead of UTF-16. This NLS map will allow DataStage to read past the x'FFFE' character. In the output column mapping, each defined column has an extended attribute field which by default is set to no value / blanks. Set that value to Unicode for each column.
