will cause the Ascent client machines to no longer work. The officially supported method to repair this is to reinstall Ascent Capture. However, the user could edit the server name in several places which may restore functionality with the new name.In the Registry, change the "ServerPath" under:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Kofax Image Products/Ascent Capture/3.0(on every client) and under:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Kofax Image Products/Ascent Capture Server(on the Server). On the server, in "..\AscentSV\BatchDB\Catalog" edit BatchCat.MTH.On the server, in "..\AscentSV\Config" edit ACConfig.xml (both HOST and STANDARD INSTANCE).On the server, in "..\AscentSV\WrkInst\Install\Bin", edit Install.ini.On each client, in "Ascent\Bin", edit Install.ini.If you have not changed your server machine's name and are getting this error anyway, your client machine may have proxy server settings causing problems. To correct for this case, add the IP address and FQDN of your Ascent Capture server machine (Fully Qualified Domain Name) to each Ascent Capture client's HOSTS file. If you know the IP address of the Ascent Capture server, you can get the FQDN by the following steps.Select Start ¦ Run ¦ and enter "cmd".Type "ping -a 192.168.10.10".A reply will be sent back that reads pinging servername.domain.com [192.168.10.10] with 32 byte

Your batch catalog server or network may be down. Please contact your system administrator. [4001] KdoLib:Error opening Database. SQL Server does not exist http://knowledgebase.kofax.com/faqsearch/results.aspx?QAID=3942 or access is denied (17)."? Answer / Solution: "SQL Server does not exist or access denied" is a generic Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) message that indicates that the SQL Server cannot be contacted. This generic message has many potential causes. One cause is 'MSDE Connection May Fail on a Multihomed Computer'. Please see Microsoft's Article at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;298822.To resolve this issue, first determine the dynamically-determined TCP port on which the Capture SQL Server is listening. For Ascent Capture sites, you can do this by going to the \AscentSS\Server\DB\MSSQL$ASCENTCAPTURE\LOG folder on the AC Server and opening the ERRORLOG file using a text editor such as Notepad. Look for an entry that is similar to:2004-06-24 07:40:13.60 server SQL server listening on 127.0.0.1: 1099.In this case, 1099 is the TCP port on which SQL Server is listening. For Kofax Capture sites, the ERRORLOG file is located in:C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kofax\Capture\Se

Comments Kofax Capture in a nutshell With Kofax Capture you are able to process all kinds of business-related documents and to collect metadata for these documents before releasing them to a backend system. Kofax Capture is a comprehensive platform for input management. It delivers originally functions for barcode recognition, OCR or ICR, creating pdf files for digital preservation, collecting and validating the documents’ metadata and at least for content delivery in backend systems of well-known manufacturers (Microsoft SharePoint, IBM Content Manager) by way of so called export connectors. The work is done step by step by so called queues in a predefined sequence. Hereby everything follows the IPO principle. The sequence always starts with the scan module and ends with the export of the collected data (metadata and image files). But not all possible modules make sense for a single use case. If the customer doesn’t want to archive pdf files, the module for pdf creation will not be considered. Not every feature is out of the box That is why we always are confronted with use cases that can be solved out of the box but also with complex use cases that can’t be solved out of the box. What can you do if the standard features are not sufficient for the use case? What can you do if the export has to release metadata in a proprietary format? How can you realise an own queue fitting your needs e.g. the creation of electronic signatures? How can you realise cross field validation, something that is difficult with the standard validation module? What can you do if the customer wants to make an OCR in the scan module directly after scanning the documents and make a validation of the recognised values also in the scan module? All these questions arose and could be solved satisfactorily for the customer, as Kofax Capture provides several API libraries and customisations. A summary of customisations Kofax Capture provides several kinds of customisation whereupon only the most common are listed: Creating scripts for recognition and validation (SBL or VB.NET) Creating own OCX panels for the modules administration, scan, quality control, validation and verification Creating an own queue, a so called custom module Creating a workflow agent, which can change the predefined sequence of queues programmatically Creating an own export connector Therefore Kofax as manufacturer provides several API libraries: Library Meaning Kofax.AscentCaptureModule.Interop.dll For OCX panels Kofax.AscentCaptureAdminMod.Interop.dll For OCX panels in administration module Kofax.DBLite.Interop.dll For cus
