Unanswered question This question has not been answered yet. I am wondering if any has or can point me to the information on how to setup the vitual ethernet adapters in multiple LPAR's. I understand this is the method used for LPARs to communicate between themselves. Log in to reply. This is the accepted answer. It's actually quite simple to do this. All you do is to add a virtual ethernet to each LPAR (do not make them trunked - i.e. do not choose 'Access external Network) and make sure all of the adapters are on the same 'Virtual Lan ID' (try something like 7 for example), but a different one from the ones connected to the SEA (Shared Ethernet Adapter). This is equivalent to having them all wired together on the same HUB or router, but not on the router going outside the box. Once this is done, the LPARs will all show an ent# device. Simply use smitty chinet - further configuration to give them their own network addresses. I like to use the non-routable IP addresses for these. Then test the ping. You might also setup jumbo frames for these adapters. You can do this with DLPAR, but make sure to later add them to the LPAR profiles. After adding with DLPAR, you will have to run cfgmgr inside the LPAR to get the adapter to showup with lsdev -Cc adapter. Log in to reply. 'ifconfig' if he only resists the temptation to keep placing a 'd' after 'inet' on each at- tempt. That's the problem, buddy. It's just "inet", then the IP address, not "inetd". Mark E. Dawson, Jr. Collective Technologies Unix Systems Consultant ------Original Message------ From: alex medvedev
