Linux Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) When either installing or upgrading ClearCase or the operating system on certain Linux systems, the shipped MVFS module does not load. Symptom When starting the ClearCase service, you see an error message similar to this: ClearCase daemons: albd_server FATAL: Error inserting mvfs (/lib/modules/2.6.16.60-0.85.1-ppc64/kernel/fs/mvfs/mvfs.ko): Invalid module format Loading the MVFS was unsuccessful(8:1) /opt/rational/clearcase/etc/clearcase: Loading MVFS failed ---- Please review /var/log/messages for information on the problem. https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?t=49790&start=120 ---- You may need to rebuild your kernel, rebuild your mvfs module, ---- and reboot your system. Information on how to do this can be found in ---- your Release Notes and file /var/adm/rational/clearcase/mvfs/mvfs_src/README.txt. Cause ClearCase ships with a large number of pre-built MVFS modules. These match the base versions of the Linux distributions http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21502734 supported by ClearCase. New pre-built modules are also provided when an upgrade to a particular Linux distribution requires MVFS code changes for proper operation. There may be other Linux updates that make changes that do not require code changes but do require that the MVFS be rebuilt using the kernel headers for the updated operating system. In these cases, the MVFS will not load after upgrading the OS and an error like the one above will appear when you try to start ClearCase. Environment A Linux system which does not exactly match the kernel for which the prebuilt MVFS module was made. Diagnosing the problem Check for the error messages above. Resolving the problem During the install phase, choose the option "Yes, rebuild MVFS using the current kernel source directory" in the IBM Install Manager. Alternatively, if you do not have IBM Install Manager installed or if the ClearCase is already installed, rebuild MVFS following the directions found in /var/adm/rational/clearcase/mvfs/m

Webcam driver compilation and insertion into NanosG20 apt-get update apt-get install make gcc dov4l libpt-1.11.2-plugins-v4l2 apt-get install subversion build-essential libjpeg62-dev libjpeg62 Need to install linux headers Linux Kernel Quellcode Paket [85,90 MB] wget https://www.ledato.de/download/linux-source-2.6.35.7-nanosg20.deb dpkg -i linux-source-2.6.35.7-nanosg20.deb cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.35.7-nanosg20 make menuconfig video drivers were not selected in the distro. Selected them and exit. make modules_prepare Started to build kernel using make, but it would take a day to compile. Searched for ways how to compile just video modules. Video drivers are here cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.35.7-nanosg20/drivers/media/video Running "make" in /video directory did not work. Need to be here: cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.35.7-nanosg20 make M=drivers/media/video/ Works!!! This creates .ko files. The order of insertion seems to be important. Insertion of some modules produced error, so I ommited them. To have the modules automatically loaded on next boot, place the code in nano /etc/rc.local ######################################################## cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.35.7-nanosg20/drivers/media/video insmod v4l1-compat.ko insmod v4l2-int-device.ko insmod videodev.ko insmod v4l2-common.ko insmod ov511.ko insmod gspca/gspca_main.ko insmod usbvideo/usbvid
