Re: SQL DATABASE BACKUP ERROR Hrvoje Crvelin Jan 28, 2008 2:12 AM (in response to crisargentoIMI) Sounds as dll needs to be re-registered. But that's just wild guess... other things to check is to have latest SQL build for module an perhaps use 7.4 for that client. Not sure what you have on server, but with 7.3SP3 you had to have patch to support 5
fails with0x80770007 Posted on December 30, 2009 by Amit Banerjee While taking a SQL Server database non-native backup using an application that calls SQLVDI.DLL, you find that the backup fails following HEX code: 0x080770007. 0x80770007 (VD_E_INSTANCE_NAME VD_ERROR) translates to: Failed to recognize the SQL Server instance name. Then check if the following condition holds true: There is no DEFAULT instance of SQL Server on the machine where you are trying to take a VDI backup and the SQL instance that you are connecting to perform a backup is a named instance. If above condition is true, then the issue is with CreateEx https://community.emc.com/thread/80370?start=0&tstart=0 function of the interface IClientVirtualDeviceSet2. The CreateEx function is used to create the virtual device set and has the following syntax: HRESULT IClientVirtualDeviceSet2::CreateEx ( LPCWSTR lpInstanceName, LPCWSTR lpName, VDConfig* pCfg ); The "lpInstanceName" parameter identifies the SQL Server instance to which the SQL command needs to be sent to. If the CreateEx method has NULL as the first parameter, then it would always connect to the Default instance. If https://troubleshootingsql.com/2009/12/30/sql-vdi-backup-fails-with-0x80770007/ the server doesn't have a default SQL instance, then the first parameter needs to be provided with the instance name: Eg. If you have a named instance on the server as "SERVER1\SQLINST1”, then the first parameter for CreateEx should be "SQLINST1". A way to workaround the same for simple.cpp is mentioned here. XenDesktop picaGina.DLL Error Started by Chad Brindley , 14 February 2012 - 10:15 AM Login to Reply 5 replies to this topic Chad Brindley Members #1 Chad Brindley 23 posts Posted 14 February 2012 - 10:15 AM Hi, Host - XenDesktop 5 on XenServer. Guest OS - Windows XP SP3 We have an issue with 2 Assigned XenDesktops. Guest OS is XP SP3. This has happened on one occasion previously and we didn't resolve it. The machines were restarted and never came back registered with the Desktop Delivery Controllers. On further investigation using the XenCenter Console I can see the machines have the following error message which appears before the Logon Window Ctrl+Alt+Del. The message reads (Screenshot attached); -------------------------------------------------------------------- User Interface Failure The Logon User Interface DLL C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICAService\picaGina.dll failed to load. Contact Your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I can ping the Desktop but I cannot browse to it or connect to the registry. I can get to a Logon prompt if I boot it in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Command Prompt but when I logon it then Logs straight Off. If If I boot into Safe Mode with Networking then I get the same error message. I have attached the Virtual Disk to a working machine and copied the picaGina.DLL file over but the problem still occurs. I also exported HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\Winlogon
