Error Loading Operating System Server 2003
was fairly consternated when this happened to me. Having this problem for some time I have been able to do a bit of research on the topic. This problem most often will occur when one is trying to install a new OS, the message will appear during the reboot portion of setup. I, however, had been running this system two years with no prior problems. When this was the case, for other people, the HD was error loading operating system windows 8 often corrupted, damaged, old. After running several scans on my HD, I ruled out this possibility after failing to find the slightest error. Going on the possibility that the Windows installation may be corrupted (Note: I can boot Windows off a floppy disk, made to boot Windows XP) i tried the FixBoot and FixMBR functions on my install disk. No luck. I installed a working version of BartPE on my HD, and I got the same result when I tried to load that instead of Windows, this makes me think that the problem is not with the Windows installation. Just to be on the safe side though, i did a repair installation of Windows, no luck, upon restart I was confronted with the same message. Well, I figured, the problem must be with the BIOS. So I flashed it (the equivalent, in this case, of replacing the current BIOS with an updated version). Well, the new version came with a nice menu for booting options, but it didn't solve my problem, I still received the same error message. I was out of ideas until a ran across a solution. In other cases I found, the BIOS would be reading the HD with the wrong geometry. So if the HD on the BIOS was set to CHC, and the HD should be read as LBA, it would not wor

Solved Error Loading Operating System SAS6/iR RAID 1 Posted on 2012-07-12 SBS Storage Hardware Server Hardware 2 Verified Solutions 19 Comments 2,925 Views Last Modified: 2012-07-15 I have a Dell PowerEdge T100 running SBS 2003 error loading with a SAS6/iR controller card configured to RAID 1. Startup fails with "error loading operating system". I wanted to run a chkdsk so I started up using the SBS 2003 installation disk. When I selected Recovery Console it tells me that setup did not find any hard drives installed in your computer. During post (see attached) it starts the SAS 6 Host Bus Adapter BIOS.....searches for devices and locates the Dell Virtual error loading operating Disk at HBA 2. It then tells me MPT boot ROM successfully installed I checked the SAS configuration utility and it shows the adapter, it shows both drives, and it lists the RAID status as optimal. I went ahead with the operation, and received a success message for \Device\Harddisk0\Partition0 , however it still will not boot (same message). The target is a RAID 5 array of 3 SATA disks. I have done one successfull restore to another machine, and I have validated the image and tried to re-restore the image, but I still get the same errror. Any ideas apreciated. jhelfer, Jun 27, 2007 #1 MudCrab Imaging Specialist Joined: Nov 3, 2006 Posts: 6,478 Location: California Was the other computer that was successful also using identical hardware? If it was, then you'd think it would work on this one too. Have you checked there are no hard drive errors? Perhaps you could change the drive order in the array... just guessing. Does a standard Window install and boot okay? Some computers have a BIOS setting that blocks writing to the MBR. If it has it, is that setting turned on? Totally indentical. ::If it was, then you'd think it would work on this one too. Have you checked there are no hard drive errors? Perhaps you could change the drive order in the array... just guessing. I didn't see anything untoward :oes a standard Window install and boot okay? I broke the RAID up and restored the image to a single drive and it worked OK. Maybe I'll try another machine and see what happens. I have several identical. ::Some computers have a BIOS setting that blocks writing to the MBR. If it has it, is that setting turned on? So, I broke the array and went back to IDE configuration and restored to the single drive. This worked. Next I got another machine, same hardware, made the RAID, booted to the restore disk and did an error-free restore. Same problem, "Error Loading
