With my vb application, it was directing a link to open a pdf file on my c: drive. This path needs to be written in ms-dos conventions for folder naming. Where Prog

The same links open successfully into Acrobat Reader on this machine via Flock 2.5.1 (Firefox/3.0.12), Google Chrome 2.0.172.39 and IE 8.0.6001 A quick search of the web turns https://acrobatusers.com/forum/deployment-installation/error-when-opening-pdf-document-reader-81/ up the following; "The problem has to do with having spaces in the path/filename of the PDF that is passed to Adobe Reader when opening it. If there are spaces in a path/filename, Adobe Reader will not parse it. To correct the problem, the application launching the PDFs need to embed literal double quotes around the path/filename." https://visibleprocrastinations.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/there-was-an-error-opening-this-document-file-cannot-be-found-acrobat-reader/ -- lkassuba on the Acrobat user forums There are many other posts mentioning this issue. This may be *an* issue but it I suspect that it is not the case here as pages that had worked up to last week no longer work. These URL's do not have any spaces although the local temp files will have spaces as they use "C:\Documents and Settings\…" file path. Some further searching uncovers the advice to select "Display PDF in browser", many people will have removed this functionality as the workaround to the Acrobat Zero day vulnerabilities earlier this year; In Acrobat Reader, open the Preferences dialog under the Edit menu. Select "Internet" from the category list on the left panel of the dialog. Select "Display PDF in browser" Click OK -- goodiegoodman on the Acrobat user forums This fixes the issue/incident, but it would be interesting to discover the underlying changed that has created the problem. Is it Acrobat, Firefox or a 3rd party change? limn Share this:TwitterFacebookTumblrLinkedInGoogleLike this:Like Lo

This file cannot be found Dan Dillon May 29, 2012 2:35 PM Recently, a co-worker of mine started using a vault that I had set-up a while ago. He is getting the error "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found" when he tries to check a drawing into the vault. I have the vault set to auto-create a PDF at check-in, and I think the error has something to do with Adobe trying to open the PDF file at check-in. Is there any way to prevent adobe from starting when checking drawings into the vault? Thanks all,Dan 2378Views Categories: Data Management, Workgroup PDM Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Some strange things are certainly possible however. Does the problem still occur if you change the default setting to not auto-create the pdf?I don't think there is a control in PDMW to either open or not open a pdf after creating it. Mine does not attempt to open and I do have "auto-create" on by default. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions Re: There was an error opening this document.
