I have no idea what's causing this or if a codec is corrupted, but I really need help. How can I fix this error? Alternatively, is there another converter I can use? video-conversion mp4 share|improve this question edited Mar 7 '13 at 6:10 Indrek 17.2k116176 asked Mar 7 '13 at 5:57 Spitfire 1213 1 What does bink 2 sdk MediaInfo have to say about the MP4? Also, I'm not sure which audio/video codecs RAD Game Tools supports out of the box, and which ones it requires system codecs for. Check if you have the appropriate codecs installed on your system. Finally, given that the error message is so uninformative, are there any logs created by the app anywhere? –Karan Mar 7 '13 at 6:27 My codec theory seems sound. See the FAQ: "I get an "Error opening, 'filename'" message when compressing or converting one of my files." Try installing the specific codecs required by your files as displayed by MediaInfo, or one of the popular codec packs. –Karan Mar 7 '13 at 6:31 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Your error message suggests a problem, the file you are trying to open is an mp4, not an avi file. If your bink converter cannot open mp4 files, you can either convert your file to .avi with a different tool and then convert it, or you can find a different bink conversion tool. I am not able to provide a recommendation other than to google "bink mp4 conversion". share|improve this answer answered Mar 7 '13 at 6:08 washbow 499217 I was unable to find any converter like that by just googling, although i see that i made a mistake and that my file is an .MP4 File. –Spitfire Mar 7 '13 at 6:12 It s

I load the file I want to convert then I choose Convert a file. I choose Avi as my output type and I choose the output destination as a folder I have saved on my desktop. I then choose Covert, which after a second or two gives me the following error message Windows Crashed while creating the output AVI file. This usually means that the codec you chose is http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/233187-Trouble-Converting-Bink-to-AVI-with-Rad-Tools broken somehow. There isn't anything bink can do to work around this problem. Now when I go through the setup process I never get an option to choose a codec, I have read on different forums that I am suppose to get that option? Anyways wonder if anyone knows a solution to this problem or of a different program to convert bink files to avi/mpeg/wmv. I thought TMPGEnc was suppose to have a plugin for bink but I have not been able to find it. Thanks for any help you can give Quote 2nd Feb 200609:16 #2 NormaJ View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date : Aug 2005 Location : Right here I've googled this for you: http://www.radgametools.com/binkfaq.htm HTH Quote + Reply to Thread Quick Navigation Newbie / General discussions Top Site Areas Settings Private Messages Subscriptions Who's Online Search Forums Forums Home Forums Video Latest Video News Newbie / General discussions Video Streaming Authoring (Blu-ray) Authoring (DVD) Camcorders (DV/HDV/AVCHD) Capturing Audio Video Conversion Blu-ray Ripping DVD Ripping Editing Software Playing Media Subtitle DVB / HDTV Restoration Programming Mac Linux Hardware DVD & Blu-ray Writers DVD & Blu-ray Recorders DVD & Blu-ray Players Portable Video Media Center PC / MediaCenters How To's User guides Glossary Other Computer Feedback Polls Archived Foru
