I have no idea what's causing this or if a codec is corrupted, but I really need help. How can I fix this error? Alternatively, is there another converter I can use? video-conversion mp4 share|improve this question edited Mar 7 '13 at 6:10 Indrek 17.2k116176 asked Mar 7 '13 at 5:57 Spitfire 1213 1 What does MediaInfo have to say about bink error opening the MP4? Also, I'm not sure which audio/video codecs RAD Game Tools supports out of the box, and which ones it requires system codecs for. Check if you have the appropriate codecs installed on your system. Finally, given that the error message is so uninformative, are there any logs created by the app anywhere? –Karan Mar 7 '13 at 6:27 My codec theory seems sound. See the FAQ: "I get an "Error opening, 'filename'" message when compressing or converting one of my files." Try installing the specific codecs required by your files as displayed by MediaInfo, or one of the popular codec packs. –Karan Mar 7 '13 at 6:31 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Your error message suggests a problem, the file you are trying to open is an mp4, not an avi file. If your bink converter cannot open mp4 files, you can either convert your file to .avi with a different tool and then convert it, or you can find a different bink conversion tool. I am not able to provide a recommendation other than to google "bink mp4 conversion". share|improve this answer answered Mar 7 '13 at 6:08 washbow 499217 I was unable to find any converter like that by just googling, although i see that i made a mistake and that my file is an .MP4 File. –Spitfire Mar 7 '13 at 6:12 It seems Rad Video Tools may support this conversion, have you tri

Not a bink File. Skipping video." I have tried restarting the computer, reinstalling the game from steam, and neither work. I read the troubleshooting thread, but it was littl help, and i have included information from the "bink troubles" thread: "1. Did you first installed Single Player from the Dvd Version ?" No, I bought it from the team store. "2. Did you then at some point, install the Multiplayer version ?" No, i wanted to be able to play the single Player before experiencing Multiplayer. "3. Did you then notice if the Single Player was being downloaded by Steam, while it shouldn't since you had installed it from the DVD Before" since i downloaded it for the Steam store, I have not used the DVD. "4. Did you try playing Single Player from Steam while you had installed it from the DVD ?" Again, I did not have the DVD to install it from. Also, i attempted to apply the 1.02 patch because the patch notes stated that it "fixed an error with Bink video on Nvidia GeForce video Cards.(I happen to have a GeForce 7900) I can post any other information if it is necessary, and thanks in advance! Before i post my dxdiag, i'll let you know that he error i get specifically states "[Bink]Error opening file: not a Bink file.. Skipping video" and it is not one of the errors mentioned on the Troubleshooting thread(which i did make sure to read before posting =D). either way, here is my dxdiag: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 6/20/2007, 14:58:47 Machine name: POWERHOUSE Operating System: Wi
