back, My Profile Log Out Recent Activity FAQs Guidelines Question 0 Votes Locked network printer is ready but there's error when printing By wandersick · 8 years ago Hi there. We've set up a Canon MP988 network printer (connected to router) in theprinter server (running Windows Server) of a company。We can see its statusis ready, which I suppose should mean the driver has been properly installedand everything status error printing is OK, even its management web page can be accessed fine. However, it gives error when printing. What could be the cause?Sorry for sounding newbie-ish, but I would really like to know the ports thenetwork printer uses for sharing, as I want to telnet to the port to see ifthere's anything (e.g. strict firewall rules) that is blocking thecommunication between the network printer and the Windows server. If that path is not blocked, then maybe we need to send the printer torepair; if the path is blocked, then it should be firewall, correct?"How Network Printing Works"http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc783789.aspx#w2k3tr_prntt_how_fxbiI checked this Technet article for the ports I need but I really lack thisknowledge. Is this what should be tested? Port 9100 for "Standard TCP/IPport monitor" (RAW)"I don't think it is about SMB / RPC ports as the network printer is not aWindows OS. Am I wrong in saying so?Thanks and sorry for my ignorance.mixty Share Flag This conversation is currently closed to new comments. 4 total posts (Page 1 of 1) + Follow this Discussion · | Thread display: Collapse - | Expand + All Answers Collapse - Printing by BFilmFan · 8 years ago In reply to network printer

The server was migrated from win2k3 to 2k8 on friday. 3/4 printers are working great, the other is having issues. When trying to print a test page to it, it gets a job status of Error - Printing. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/error-printing-on-network-printer.139163/ When sending a small word document to it, it sends it to the printer, the queue is empty but nothing prints. If I goto the printer itself, it doesnt show any errors and I can print things such as information sheets and diagnostic files just fine. All four printers are the same model, all 4 have a static IP. I can ping the printer successfully. I've tried printing from both an XP machine and the print server itself. I tried removing and adding the printer on the print server. And lastly, uunplugged the printer for 30 seconds, plugged it back in. Any ideas? EPSON Print: Error - Printing, Network Printer Error. Mike Mclain discusses one possible fix to the EPSON Print: Error - Printing, while using a EPSON http://mamclain.com/?page=Blog_Personal_Projects_EPSON_Print_Fix workforce network printer. Preface: A few weeks ago (circa November 11) https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/331836-network-printer-error-error-printing I wrote an article discussing a possible solution to the EPSON Scan: Cannot Communicate with the scanner... Error that I encountered. Conversely, Lady Fortuna decided to bestow upon me (this week) the inverse and equally unique problem (a sudden inability to print) thus I now find error printing myself writing an article covering one possible solution to the EPSON Print: Error - Printing error I encountered. Now, before I start discussing my solution to this particular problem, allow me to provide a brief disclaimer: First, it is important to recognize that this particular error message is inherently (if not intentionally) a metaphoric turkey shoot, insofar as error printing windows such messages are inherently generic by design and the number of problems that can ultimately produce such errors are extremely vast. Likewise, with this being said, I highly recommend that you review the differential paragraph (provided below) and determine if the symptoms discussed match the ones you have encountered (noting that, if they do not, the solution to your particular variation of this error likely exist elsewhere on the Internet). Second, given the diverse occurrence of this particular problem (since printers are practically a household item), I attempted to make this article as broad as possible in order to make it more palatable to an assortment of technical backgrounds. Conversely, as a result of this objective, I have incorporated a number of screenshots into this article (since a picture is typically worth a 1000 words) and I would like to briefly mention that these screenshots are being presented, within this article, under the fair use doctrine since their inclusion is strictly educational. The Software Differential: Now, with the preface out-of-the-way,

Join Now Hi All, We are experiencing issues with several Network printers failing "Error Printing" It seems to be randomly affecting 3-4 printers on our network. We have taken several steps to resolve this such as 1) Updating all drivers 2) Updating Server + Rebooting The only way to clear the printer up is to stop the print spooler service and delete the files from the windows32 spool folder. But that only temporary fixes the issue until a few hours later. We've had a printer engineer out and it's not the actual printers that are causing the problem Please could anyone help suggest a fix for this?
