Error sending banner to remote host We are connecting to send multiple small files to the WinSSHD server Pro version and we get an error sending banner to remote host after the 6th file. Maximum concurrent connections is set at 30. We have eliminated any possibility of firewall or antivirus interference. We'd appreciate any thoughts. Jim Schamadan Thursday, December 15, 2011 Deleting… Approving… Hello, can you clarify what you mean by "sending banner"? What kind of error do you get when you try to transfer the 6th file? Also, can you describe in greater detail how you are establishing these connections? Are all of them established simultaneously, e.g. in less than a second? At the moment, I'm guessing that you might be having trouble establishing multiple near-simultaneous connections to WinSSHD. If that's the issue you're encountering, then this is controlled by the "Accept delay" setting on the Server page in Advanced WinSSHD Settings. The default value is 200 ms, which means that WinSSHD will pause for this amount of time between accepting new connections. The purpose of this feature is to make it harder for an attacker to establish many connections to WinSSHD in a short time, potentially exhausting available port numbers on the server.Since Windows keeps a backlog of no more than 5 incoming connections, a delay of 200 ms means that WinSSHD can accept up to 6 simultaneous connection attempts - one that's accepted immediately, and 5 that Windows keeps in the incoming connection backlog. However, any attempts more than this will be refused, because there won't be room in the backlog. You can certainly change the Accept delay setting to a lower value, e.g. 20 or even 0, and thus enable WinSSHD to accept a large number of simultaneous connections. An item to check is login to the server that SmarterMail is installed on and try to telnet to the IP address 116.251.204.147 and see if you get a 220 response. If you do not this could be network related or the IP address your telneting from may be blocked on the receiving end. If you can telnet error sending banner verify if the IP address that SmarterMail is sending from is the same IP address you used when doing the test.
