Error Validating Database 121 Sql Error Opening A Connection
Group Chat doesn't go beyond the database setup screen. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Sorin DutaAugust 23, 20100 0 0 0 I thought I'd start with a bit of information about a problem I've seen during theOCS Group Chat installation. There aren't many problems that I've found, but the ones may appear can give someone a headache, so here goes: When installing the Group Chat server, it's pretty much Next-Next-Next, except for the SQL database setup… You have to create the database check the database collation, add the service users, etc (detailed steps can be found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd441340(office.13).aspx). And then you start the server deployment: choose the components, install the files, all of this goes well usually (unless you're missing some pre-requisites). In the second stage, of the setup, the server configuration starts:enter the SQL server name and instance, click Next and … nothing happens. Some generic logs which you can check if the GC installation fails: If the installation fails before the server configuration screen (before you get asked for the SQL database URL/instance): MgcServer.log If the installation fails after starting the server configuration: ServerConfigTool.log In the latter, the messages may or may not be self explanatory. In this case, they are… not. What we see is the following (the part in < > is translated from French, so the English message may be slightly different): ERROR|20100310-09:48:25.905|1: | SctDataAccess.GetSchemaVersion | SQL Error while determining DB schema version, compliance=

Lync 2010 OCS 2007 R2 Powershell SBS Uncategorized Windows 2008 R2 Windows 7 Group Chat Installation : Error 121 Opening Connection (sql /kerberos) Filed under: OCS 2007 R2 — Leave a comment September 17, 2010 Major problem today last day of the project and couldnt get group chat installed it was right to the wire… all we were getting was Error 121 after the setup was ran for the group chat server and it invoked the configuration tool… now we rechecked the database permissions , accounts, membership everything reviewed various technet documentation and blogs and nothing at all! anyway…. sql and kerberos turned out to be our problem and we exposed it with UAC in windows basically when the installer was invoking the configuration tool it was doing under system and tried to authenticate to the sql server (as kerberos is in use) with the machine account and not the account we invoked the installer under! very annoying! so the obvious thing was to add the machine account to sql 2008 but guess what you cant!…. well not directly!🙂 to get around the problem we created a group, added the machine account to the group and then added it to the sql security and gave it SA permissions with DBO on the relevant database… after this group chat installed with no errors…… Share this:EmailTwitterFacebookPrintLike this:Like Loading...
