Error Validating The Default For Column Newsequentialid
with this formula: ISNULL(NULLIF (tot_mnc, 0) / NULLIF (repl_value, 0), 0) It works in a straight select
Error Validating The Default For Column 'rowguid'
query, but when I put it in the formula of the table design window, I get an error "Error validating the formula for column 'test_fci'" I don't know if it's relevant https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165269(v=sql.105).aspx but repl_value is itself a computed column with the formula: (repl_value_e_g + repl_value_aux) Is it possible to use the system functions in a computed column? If not, how would I pass those values into a udf and use it for the formula? Thanks. You can use the built-in functions, so just create your new computed column based on the calculations from the base columns. If you were to run an ALTER statement to create your computed column based on a computed column you would potentially get an error message like: Msg 1759, Level 16, State 0, Line xxxx Computed column 'ccccc' in table 'tttttt' is not allowed to be used in another computed-column definition. I tried the query below but it was giving an errorQueryselect EmailAddress from tbl_wWebUsers where tbl_wWebUsers.SecUserID = nl_SecUsers.SecUserIDError Meessage error validating the box content---------------------------Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio---------------------------Error validating the formula for column 'EmailAddress'.Do you want to cancel your changes ?---------------------------Yes No Help ---------------------------Please help, not sure if this is possible The Fastest Methods aren't always the Quickest Methods Post #1148900 LowellLowell Posted Wednesday, July 27, 2011 6:02 AM SSChampion Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Today @ 9:48 AM Points: 14,477, Visits: 38,133 not directly like that...you could use a scalar function instead...but before i demo that...lets review what you are trying to do...there might be a better way.if the email address is in another table, and it's reference-able via that foreign key, WHY do you need it in the other table? it's duplicating existing data. you could create a view that combines them together for you whenever you need it, or join the table when required.anyway, I would not do it this way, but for a scalar function it could be something like this:CREATE FUNCTION dbo.GetEmail(@SecUserID int)RETURNS varchar(255)AS BEGINdeclare @Results varchar(255)SELECT @Results = EmailAddress from tbl_wWebUsers where tbl_wWebUsers.SecUserI

I have a table with A. One column is for "Interest" B. There are three computed columns : First_val , Second_val , Third_val First_val = 10 % of Interest , Second_val = 20 % of Interest, Third_val = First_val + Second_val + Interest I created three functions and calling them in Computed Column > Formula. When i enter value in "Interest" column, First_val & Second_val columns values are calculated perfectly(in case no use Third_val). It shows error while saving the table "Error validating the formula for column 'Third_val'"(in case use Third_val). I used following formulas for Third_val respectively : dbo.func_TOT(Interest , func_First(Interest) , func_Second(Interest)) dbo.func_TOT(Interest , First_val , Second_val) Neither work, What should I do? sql-server sql sql-server-2008 share|improve this question edited May 27 at 9:35 asked May 27 at 7:23 user2791156 245 closed as off-topic by karel, DavidPostill, Deltik, Ben N, fixer1234 May 28 at 5:13 This question does not appear to be about computer software or computer hardware within the scope defined in the help center. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.
