This is what I'm doing: But it's not letting me. The error message I get is: 'FormTemplate (Forms)' table - Error validating the default for column 'FormTemplateId'. Am I missing a trick here? I'm definitely running SQL Server 2008 R2. sql-server-2008 database-design ssms default-value share|improve this question edited Mar 6 '12 at 1:33 Nick Chammas 9,003115591 asked Oct 26 '11 at 9:44 5arx 4022415 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 17 down vote accepted Use CREATE TABLE, not the GUI. This is a bug in SSMS, already reported here as well as here on Connect. share|improve this answer edited Mar 5 '12 at 21:36 Nick Chammas 9,003115591 answered Oct 26 '11 at 9:51 gbn 56.5k5103168 1 Thanks. Typical Microsoft attention to detail :-( –5arx Oct 26 '11 at 10:06 5 @5arx: poke around the 5 year old critical bugs for MySQL. MS are quite sharp in comparison –gbn Oct 26 '11 at 10:08 1 @5arx Well, when you consider the number of products Microsoft supports and the new features they add with every release, I think it's understandable that an easily avoidable bug in the GUI should linger for years. It still looks bad to us as customers but as a developer I can understand. –Nick Chammas Oct 26 '11 at 13:11 2 I'm a developer who uses databases, not a database de

Do you want to cancel your changes?" This error message occurs whether or not you have set the RowGUIDCol property on the xolumn. I have seen similar feedback items, mostly for SQL 2005, but there seems to have been no resolution in several years. I hope this can get fixed for SQL 2008. The diagram is already slow as Christmas when saving - you sure can't walk way after hitting save because you have to wait for the sit and spin and https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/352733/ssms-should-not-given-an-error-when-newsequentialid-used-as-a-default-value-or-binding then the error message you KNOW is coming. Why in the world has this error been allowed to continue on into 2012? I mean really? This is beyond slack. FIX IT ALREADY. Posted by Joerg Baeuerle on 7/7/2014 at 2:46 AM Sorry, I accidentally posted to the wrong Feedback site. Can one of the admins delete this and my previous post. Thanks. Posted by Joerg Baeuerle on 7/7/2014 at 2:43 AM I'm having the same problem. This is ridiculous. Come on Microsoft, fix this! How can you expect developers to use your tools if you don't even implement your own framework?! Posted by IanBoyd on 3/9/2014 at 11:28 AM The problem with an upvote (and "I can too") is that it doesn't take into account how many times I suffer with the error. I upvote it once three years ago, but experience the problem weekly. What is the method to remind the SQL Server team that an issue is a continuous problem? The only thing i can think of is to:Bump six year later. If i added a comment every time i experienced the problem, maybe the squeaky wheel would get the 9 year overdue bugfix. Posted by Scott_Chamberlain on 2/11/2014 at 10:30 AM This is still not fixed in SQL Server 2012 SP1 build 3128, with the same versioned SQL Management Studio.
