Me too! One of our clients is getting this error too. They have a PocketPC 2003 device syncing over a wifi connection on the WAN side. They use SBS 2003 with all service packs and Exchange 2003 with SP2. I've checked knowledge base article 842541. Indications are that this error occurs because the user may have a very full calendar and that it's supposed to have been fixed with Exchange 2003 SP2 - but my user has disabled syncing of his calendar and the server already has SP2! Any clues from anyone would be most helpful. I have setup this server about 9 month ago and it works well with outlook users. Most of time it's working fine with IPHONE users, but start about 2 month ago, some time IPHONE users get error message and could not get the emails in. Usually wait for 5 https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27625797/Microsoft-Exchange-ActiveSync-Event-ID-3005-HTTP-status-code-503-how-to-resolve.html to 10 minutes it gets back to normal. The worst case may take about 2 hours. The IPHONE 4 users also have issue that the emails re download. From the server event log, I see constantly blow error message. I notice that even when my phone works well (from iphone view) it still generate this error message. I also tired change the settings of IPHONE (push, fetch, etc,)but still same thing. It sounds like every time when IPHONE talk to the exchange server will generate this error message. Some time IPHONE user didn't notice and can get all emails, but some time IPHONE gets error message and email stop downloading especially when more emails need to be downloaded. I've exhausted Google for a resolution to this event... Event ID 3005: Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server: [sams6301.SMF.Local] User: [First.Last@domain.com] HTTP status code: [500]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly. This event appears for most iPhone or Android users that we have, save a few. Everyone is able to event id 3005 access their Exchange mailboxes and calendars without a hitch except for one user. They can only use their iPhone for mail. The moment I enable calendars everything stops synchronizing and the phone goes into the eternal "Looking for Mail" loop. If I drop everything (mail, reminders, etc) but the calendar from their iPhone, I get the same result.... According to Microsoft and EventID.net, there are a multitude of causes & fixes for this error. Below is what I have done so far... Emptied the affected user's Deleted Items, Drafts & Outbox folders. Overall cleanup of the entire mailbox Used the Outlook /cleanreminders & Outlook /resetfolders switches Recreated the Exchange virtual directory "Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync" Verified Virtual Directory permissions Ruled out their iPhone as the cause by setting up a spare iPhone; same issue At this point, I'm convinced the user has a bad entry on their calendar, but I cannot find a command to "reset" their calendar back to scratch. Any thoughts, tips, and recommendations are most welcome. This one has left me with little hair... Thanks all! Join Now I was out Monday - so of course there was an email problem, but no one called (surprisingly) only activesync and email on phones were the issue. iphones and droids both. the complaint was either that suddenly ALL their emails were gone, or some users stated that their sent items folder was suddenly empty. I check the event log, event id 3005 started coming in at 8:03 monday morning. there were preceded by several of these: Event ID: 439 wuaueng.dll (1192) SUS20ClientDataStore: Unable to write a shadowed header for file C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\tmp.edb. Error -1808. then all you see is: Event Type: Error Event Source: Server ActiveSync Event Category: None Event ID: 3005 Date: 4/29/2012 Time: 8:09:40 AM User: blah blah Computer: Description: Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server: HTTP status code: [500]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly. you would see several hundred for single individual, then more for another individual, and it kind of swaps out until 8:47 am next morning when I see the last event 3005 error, next message is 8:52 symantec antivirus started a scan. event id 3005 has not reoccurred since. everything just cleared up, no issues since. what the heck? what would cause this, and then just go away?
