Any suggestion? There is similar topic but it couldnt help http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverClustering/thread/2ad0afaf-8d86-4f16-b748-49bf9ac447a3/ Regards Saturday, February 16, 2013 12:19 AM Reply | Quote Answers 4 Sign in to vote Hi All, Problem was solved. I did following; - Open DNS Management and find CLUSTER Host A record. Right Click on it and go Properties / Security - click Add event id 1196 cluster network name resource and find CLUSTER - CNO (Computers) object. Give Full Control. Restart all Failover Nodes and try again. If the record was accidentally deleted, or was scavenged by the DNS server, create it again, or arrange to have a network administrator create it.Ensure that a valid, accessible DNS server has been specified for the indicated network adapter or adapters in the cluster.Check the system event log for Netlogon or DNS events that occurred near the time of the failover cluster event. Troubleshooting these events might solve the problem that prevented the clustered Network Name resource from registering the DNS name. For more information ple

Cause: The cluster name resource which has been added to the DNS prior to setup active passive cluster ( or any https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/4cec496a-9a08-4afd-979a-109a557699ea/windows-server-2012-failover-cluster-hyperv-event-id-1196?forum=winserver8gen type) need to be updated by the Physical nodes on behalf of the resource record itself. When the active node owns the resources it want to update the A record in the DNS database and DNS record which was created won't allow any authenticated user to update the DNS record with the same owner Solution: https://amradmin.wordpress.com/2011/01/27/event-id-1196-1119-dns-operation-refused-cluster-servers/ Delete the existing A record for the cluster name and re-create it and make sure select the box says "Allow any authenticated user to update DNS record with the same owner name "Don't worry about breaking anything , this has "ZERO" impact to cluster simply delete the A record and re-create as it is suggested here. Network Name Resource17/11/2015 By Lethe Leave a Comment Post has been updated on 02.12.2015 with additional details and scenarios
Event ID 1196 is Displayed with external DNS ServersTake the following scenario, you have a Windows 2012 R2 machine and have installed the Failover Cluster Feature and both in the http://blog.helocheck.com/event-id-1196-cluster-network-name-resource/ event viewer Event ID1196 is logged in the event viewer with message Cluster network name resource ‘Cluster Name' failed registration of one or more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason: DNS server failure. The event ID 1196 is logged when you install the Failover Cluster feature and Windows cannot register the cluster name in one of the DNS configured on the server's network card, for example in my lab the message logged as in addition event id to the Domain Controller's IP address I am using the default's gateway, which is not running the DNS Service, IPOnce the bogus DNS entry is removed Cluster Manager will stop logging the error message and all will start working as intendedEvent ID 1196 is Displayed with AD Integrated DNSI was working with one of my custoemrs deploying a Hyper-V Cluster and Event ID 1196 was appearing in the cluster event log despite the only configured DNS event id 1196 were the internal Domain Controllers with no external or bogus DNS entries. While checking the possible cause of the issue I found out that the Cluster Name DNS record had been created manuallyCreating a static record for the Cluster Name resource is absolutely fine and helpful to the record getting deleted due to aging/scavenging but you need to take proper care in the way DNS Record permissions are assigned for example in the picture below there are no permissions for the Hyper-V-Cluster computer accountNote: To display the Security tab you need to enable the Advanced Features DNS Management ConsoleThis can easily solved either delegating proper permissions to the DNS record or delete the static record and let the Cluster Service register the record dynamically.Indipendently of the chosen appraoch to force the registration of the clsuter name resource and get rid of the Event ID 1196 being logged in the cluster logs you can follow this procedure, open Failover Cluster Manager and with the cluster object selected at the end of the console select the Cluster Name Resource under Cluster Core ResourcesRight-click on the Name Resource Name and select Take Offline from the contextual menu this will not impact the cluster running services or any workload that is hosted on the machinesOnce the Cluster Name resource is offline right-click on it and from the More
