Join Now Hello, We have multiple DCs in different sites, and our main server is showing Event ID 1864 in the log: I ran dcdiag.exe and we seem to be failing on the Replication step. I also ran the repadmin /showvector event id 1864 ntds replication windows 2003 /latency command that the Event 1864 suggests you run but I am not really sure how to

When did the replication issues begin? How many DC's in the environment, what version of server are running on each DC? Are your domain controllers virtual or physical, or a mix of both? Anything happen in the interim like restoring a domain controller from a snap shot or anything? -Jay 1 https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/284667-replication-issues-event-id-1864 Sonora OP Huey009 Dec 19, 2012 at 8:52 UTC Attached is the dcdiag.exe results. These issues have been going at least since March. I am new to this so I am just cleaning up and discovering past issues. I believe we have a mixture of both dcdiag.txt (3.41 KB) 0 Mace OP Jay6111 Dec 19, 2012 at 9:01 UTC Not sure the uploaded dcdiag captured everythign it should have. But just what is in there, looks like you ran it from "PJ-ROCHESTER" and that replication from PJ-ALBANY to PJ-ROCHESTER is failing. If it's been since March, then chances are one of your DC's is tombstoned and it won't replicate now. In which case you easiest route is to transfer any roles off of it, demote the bad DC, if server 2003 then perform a metadata cleanup manually using this method, http://www.petri.co.il/delete_failed_dcs_from_ad.htm
If it's server 2008, then demoting the DC should do the cleanup for you. Once complete, rejoin to domain, promote it, and add any roles back to it as needed or were before. That's the short answer. -Jay 0 Sonora OP Huey009 Dec 19, 2012 at 9:06 UTC Looking at the DC's, I see the PJ-Albany in there ant not "Tombstoned" or in the Tombstone folder. 0 Mace OP Jay6111 Dec 19, 2012 at 10:26 UTC So the replications issues are intermittent then. Looks from the log that the last success was on the 2011-12-08. The AD topology is simple: Hub site and 10 Branch sites. I have one connection object between Branch "A" DC and Hub DC in Active Directory Sites and Services. Does it mean that Branch "A" DC has only one replication partner? If so, why do I see replication error ID event id 1864 1864 on the Branch "A" DC related to domain controllers in other sites? Event Type: Error Event Source: NTDS Replication Event Category: Replication Event ID: 1864 Date: 6/4/2015 Time: 12:16:08 PM User: NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON Computer: ABranchDC Description: This is the replication status for the following directory partition on the local domain controller. Directory partition: DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=Company,DC=com The local domain controller has not recently received replication information from a number of domain controllers. More than 24 hours: 4 More than a week: 3 More than one month: 3 More than two months: 1 More than a tombstone lifetime: 1 Tombstone lifetime (days): 60 I know that there are some DCs in other branch sites that were not properly demoted. Working on that. But I'm curious, why do I see those errors? Only one partition error is shown here, while I'm getting the same error for Configuration, Schema and DomainDnsZones also. active-directory replication share|improve this question asked Jun 4 '15 at 13:54 Vadym Rybitskyy 35 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted By default AD ( specificify the KCC and ISTG) assume that the network is fully routed and ALL s
