have two DC, one is Windows 2003 SRV2, one is Windows 2008 64 bit Service Pack2, I have dns server error event id 4013 exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003 server, and Exchagne 2010 srv2 running on windows 2008 server. both are DC and GC, I was inlast stage of the Exchange migration, previous, I event id 4001 health service script had moved all mailbox successfully toExchange 2010, un-installed the Exchange 2003, when Iwas running DCpormo on the old server, it ask me to remove the TAPI3Directory before I can remove this domain controller, I followed the suggestion and successfully removed the TAPI3Directory, then I started noticed the DNS serverwas not respond to request. restart the DNS server, and it show the

zone file can not be loaded. there are no recent DNS zone file in the backup %system%\DNS\directory. I was able to restart the server and logon without needing the DNS server started. the errro also replacted to the new Windows 2008 server, the DNS service also failed to load the zone file, I am getting error ID 4521, 4001, there is a backup DNS zone file on this server, I tried manually copy the backup zone files, and hope this will resolve the problem. but it was not successful. Can I restart the Widnows 2008 server, I know the DNS server are not working on both DC, would Exchange 2010 start and working normally withouta working DNS server? Can I still log on to the Windows 2008 server if the DNS server is not wokring? Many thanks! Can't access AD! I'm not sure what happened. When I try to open AD either through admin tools or one of my custom mmc's I get the hour glass for a couple of seconds then nothing. The only thing my event viewer is showing is a DNS error because event id it can't open my domains zone in the AD! Event ID: 4001. I'm running W2K server w/sp3 Any thoughts? AD Integrated or not as long as the correct resource records are there it will work, just changes where the records are stored and security I believe. I have used Bind 9 with AD so I know it doesnt have to be integrated. Oh yeah, and can you reach the DNS server? My computer is bigger than yours!
