Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735747(v=ws.10).aspx be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=4016&eventno=333&source=DNS&phase=1 servers. read more... event data contains the error.Data: 0000: 55 00 00 00 U...Event InformationInformation From One Of The News Group May help You1. I had the same problem. I have 2 http://kb.eventtracker.com/evtpass/evtpages/EventId_4016_dns_51097.asp servers running DNS; both are Win2k w/SP4, one primary and one secondary. They were working fine, until one day when the CPU usage on both servers https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26167072/DNS-replication-issues-event-id-4004-and-4016.html plunged to 100% and stayed there. If I stopped the DNS service on either server, the CPU usage dropped to about 4% on both servers. I event id rebooted both systems with no help; once they come up they run fine for 2 or 3 minutes then the CPU hit 100% again. I stopped replication between my 2 servers and the CPU usage dropped to normal. I had a feeling that it was a replication issue with the reverse lookup event id 4016 zones. As the primary server was the first server to plunge to 100% CPU usage when this started I figured to start there. I deleted all of the reverse lookup zones and then replicated them from the secondary server one by one. After rebuilding them, the CPU usage reached normal levels on both servers2. Microsoft suggests that this is a caching problem, without providing additional information. Several newsgroup posts suggest that this is an indication of a problem with the Active Directory and that netdiag should be run to diagnose the problem. A Microsoft engineer suggested the following:1. - Stopping the dns service2. - Delete your zone(s)3. - Delete your system32\dns folder and your netlogon.dns file4. - Uninstall dns and reinstall it Reference Links Did this information help you to resolve the problem? It should throw and error, if so, what? That points to an RPC problem more than a DNS problem. Does the management console open on the local server? Chris 0 Message Author Comment by:infranetsupport2010-05-07 They are both primary active directory integrated zones. I just deleted the zones and added them back. I did not delete the whole DNS service. Seems to synching but they cannot "see" each other in DNS 0 LVL 70 Overall: Level 70 DNS 40 Active Directory 36 Message Expert Comment by:Chris Dent2010-05-07 I need you to define see please. Do you mean you cannot see the remote DNS server (whichever that may be) in the DNS management
