Error trying to Extract Offline files with CSCCMD.exe in Windows XP. Want to Advertise Here? Solved Error trying to Extract Offline files with CSCCMD.exe event id 1074 legacy api shutdown in Windows XP. Long story short: User could not sync with the server and worked for months saving files to

her offline folder. I got the folder to sync by changing the mapped network drive from the server name to it's IP address. Now all she can see are files up to May 1st and she is missing all the data from the time after that. When I view the offline files I see they total 750MB. When I view the C:\Windows\CSC folder I see if has 3.3 GB of data in it. I'm hoping that her recent work unexpected shutdown event id is still in this folder and I'm trying to extract the data with the csccmd program. Here is what I run: csccmd /extract /target:N: /recurse N = mapped network drive to a folder on the server. The error I get is: CopyShadow: could not issue IO control Error copying shadow *** Error 1074 copying replica Please help me in trying to fix this error so I can restore her data. The csc program crashes halfway through so I copied whatever files I could and then deleted the offline file cache to create a new offline sync. Problem somewhat solved and now gone. I only hope it makes it all the way through without crashing. 0 Message Accepted Solution by:benmate2008-07-28 Well... Recently, however, Offline Files was quite unpredictable and would not cache any new files. There were mostly two error messages, one complaining about the system event id being in last-known-good configuration (system error code 1074, ERROR_ALREADY_RUNNING_LKG) and another complaining about the file not existing. I looked around, but found not too much help, except a link describing csccmd.exe (from the Server Support Tools) and a recommendation to do all kinds of nasty things to your Offline Files configuration. What I did was this: 1. I removed all event id 1074 local copies - there was one broken link that could not get removed. 2. I first disabled Offline Files with csccmd.exe /disable 3. Reboot into Safe Mode and delete all content under %SystemRoot%\CSC 4. Reboot again and re-enable Offline Files. After this, you need to re-initialize your Offline Files configuration, but at least all errors were gone.

Saves lots of time troubleshooting a poorly documented MS feature. Don't try and fix it just go straight to this. Good Job. Reply↓ Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
