Check the hardware logs to see why the shutdown wasn't graceful - I have had this issue before on a SBS - turns out, the hardware wasn't allowing graceful shutdown. 0 Message Active 4 days ago Author Comment by:Joemt2014-06-04 The Server again went down...I found this in the system log. 7 randomly reboots and reports an Event ID 1074 in the system log of the Event Viewer with a reason code 0x80020002 and source USER32 Posted on October 22, 2010 by martcj I have seen a few instances of this issue whereby the Event logged suggests that a running service has initiated the restart. After some research the general feeling is that the hibernation/sleep settings need turning off within the Power Options applet in Control Panel. Apparently there are a number of known issues with the hibernation and sleep features in Windows 7 and perhaps these haven’t been addressed yet. Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 7 Service Pack 1 which is currently in the beta development stage, will be offered to users in the first half of 2011. I would hope that the hibernation issues are resolved with this service release. Share this:FacebookTwitterEmailLike this:Like Loading...
