Group Policy Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi there. Getting this error on the servers in our Terminal Services farm. We have six servers, all 2008 R2 64-bit, all exactly the same. Windows failed to record Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) information, which describes the scope of Group Policy objects applied to the computer or user. This could be caused by Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service being disabled, stopped, or other WMI errors. Group Policy settings successfully applied to the computer or user; however, management tools may not report accurately. and when I try and run an RSOP I am not able to pick a user (either Current User or another user). I did some searching, looks to be an answer in expertsexchange but I don't want to pay the subscription fee. Also, the WMIDiag VB doesn't run on Server 2008 R2 64-bit.We have quite a bit of Group Policy: Loopback in merge mode, specific policy against groups of users, both Policies and Preferences. Can anybody help me out ? Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/977735d6-73d0-4947-af9a-dd3cd13527ae/event-id-1090-windows-failed-to-record-resultant-set-of-policy-rsop-information?forum=winserverGP blinking on any of the servers. read more... Comments: Anonymous I was receiving this issue across several Windows XP Professional SP2 machines. gpresult yielded "ERROR: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" and the policy was not getting applied to some of the PCs. Long story short, the problem was related to ME894794. I have not yet applied the patch but removing all my service settings in the Policy (Computer -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> System Services) cleared things up nicely. x 30 Miles Logan A miss-configuration by an application developer caused Logical Disk manager, rsop.msc, and WSUS updates to fail on Windows 2003 Enterprise SP1 server. To resolve the problem, go to Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Component Services. Here, select Component Services under the Console Root -> Computers -> My Computer. Right click My Computer -> Properties. Select the Default Properties tab. Select Default Authentication Level: Connect" and Default Impersonation Level: "Identify". This restored the functionality. x 42 EventID.Net As per Microsoft: "The Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) information for this application of Group Policy could not be processed. Even though Group Policy might have been successfully applied, the RSoP diagnostic information is not available". See MSW2KDB for details on this problem. From a newsgroup post, from a Microsoft Engineer: "It could be that there is a problem with WMI on this machine. You can try recreating s

There is an easy fix and the main contributor for this is Jason Weaver, one of the smartest guys I have ever seen and worked with. He is vastly experienced in every form of Windows Operating Systems and a Subject Matter Expert in Active Directory. So for the fix, follow the steps below: Stop the Windows Management Instrumentation service from Services console. Delete all the contents from C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\Repository folder. Reboot the server. If you continue to face the errors you will have to re-register the WMI components by running the following commands from command window, one at a time : cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem for %i in (*.dll) do RegSvr32 -s %i for %i in (*.exe) do %i /RegServer Reboot the server again. If you face the following error or event in Event viewer follow the resolution steps : EVENT ID 1090 Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy.
