Now Got every system in my network up and running with SEP12 now except 1! This https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/154483-sep-client-install-fail-eventid-11708 client is error during install, well to be more specific it claims its getting interrupted and rolls back the install. Windows logs show an EventID 11708. I did https://windoh.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/sep-client-install-fails-and-rolls-back/ a little digging and found some posts from 2008 about a suggested method of using a tool called SCSCleanWipe to remove all traces of symantec products, as some aspect event id of a previous install is causing the issue. Is this still a valid resolution? If so where can I locate the current version of this software. If not what recommendation do you have for this situation. For reference this system only had SEP 11 installed and maybe Corp 10, but I do not have that record handy. event id 11708 Reply Subscribe View Best Answer RELATED TOPICS: Client Install? From start - run - %temp%\SEP_INST.log, search for Return Value 3 and post the 10 lines above the return value 3. If you happen to need to Cleanwipe tool, you will have to open a case and request the tool from support. Posted on 18/04/2011 Updated on 22/04/2012 When you try to install the Sympantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client, it's possible it rolls back after being confronted with an error. First everything seems to go smooth till you see the "Rolling back action" appear in the installer's GUI. Aaargh… Of course the installer doesn't tell us what exactly went wrong, so we have to find out ourselves. That's exactly what happened to me. Here's my story🙂 First thing to do is checking for events in the Windows event logs. We're lucky as the following event is logged in the Application event log of Windows:Type: InformationSource: MsiInstallerCategory: NoneEvent ID: 11708Description: Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- Installation operation failed. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Mmm… It just logs the fact the installation has failed. Of course it's a good thing this is logged, but when trying to find out why this failure has happened, this kind of logging is worthless! It doesn't even give us an indication! Anyway, it's time to take a look at the full blown install log, which is SEP_INST.LOG in %temp%. In my case this file's size was 7 to 8 megabyte! Exploring this file takes a while, but in my case I was lucky to find the very first failure: MSI (s) (5C:04) [09:52:26:133]: Invoking remote custom action.
