A package logs these messages when the package starts, when the package stops, and when certain problems occur.This topic provides information about the common event messages that a package logs to the Application event log. By default, a package logs some of these messages even if you have not enabled logging on the package. However, there are other messages that the package will log only if you have enabled logging on the package. Data providers that were available on the development computer are not available on the computer on which the package was deployed. Or, data providers that were available in 32-bit versions are not available when the package is run as a 64-bit package. The permissions that are required by the package are not sufficient when the package is scheduled in a SQL Server Agent job. Habanero Oct 4, 2012 Bottman Consulting, 101-250 Employees Most of the articles about this error seem to suggest that the problem is due to using a mapped drive rather than UNC naming convention. However, I could find no details that would suggest that was the case for us. The symptoms in my case; a backup job would run successfully, but any maintenance plan using the same process would fail. It appears that this is because the manual backup and maintenance plan / job agent use different accounts. I fixed my problem by adjusting the permissions for the SQL agent job; I gave it NT AUTHORITY \ SYSTEM and the job completed succe
