single server with proprietary ldap directory to redundant highly available openldap directory with SSO capabilities. https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/36098-event-id-4515-dns-zone-error Domain Migration Migrate from old domain to new domain Riverbed SteelHead Network Optimization for Remote Sites TECHNOLOGY IN THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I recently demoted and decommisioned a domain controller then promoted a new server and installed dns. After I did this the event id following error appears after I reboot: Event ID 4515 The zone mydomain.com was previously loaded from the directory partition MicrosoftDNS but another copy of the zone has been found in directory partition DomainDnsZones.mydomain.com. The DNS Server will ignore this new copy of the zone. Please resolve this conflict as soon as possible. If an administrator event id 4515 has moved this zone from one directory partition to another this may be a harmless transient condition. In this case, no action is necessary. The deletion of the original copy of the zone should soon replicate to this server. If there are two copies of this zone in two different directory partitions but this is not a transient caused by a zone move operation then one of these copies should be deleted as soon as possible to resolve this conflict. To change the replication scope of an application directory partition containing DNS zones and for more details on storing DNS zones in the application directory partitions, please see Help and Support. --- I found the following fix at microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/867464 -- It appears that when I promoted and installed DNS on the new server it somehow created a new zone. The new zone appears to be active in DC=mydomain, DC=com. When I add new computers to the domain they appear there. The origina
