Comments: EventID.Net Device: \Device\Harddisk2\D, error: IO_WARNING_PAGING_FAILURE - From a support forum, this was caused by an external USB drive (Seagate). After disabling the power-saving mode using Seagate management tools, the error stopped. x 1 Anonymous On a Windows Server 2012 R2, this error may

occur when Windows Server Backup runs. If you have verified that the backup target is healthy and the backups are successful, the error can be safely ignored. In my case, I tested 2 different external hard drives, 2 different cables and 2 different interfaces (ESata and USB 3.0).Since the error still occurred, hardware is not the issue. x 75 Anonymous Event shows on Server 2008 R2 when backing up Hyper-V volumes holding VMs with either Windows Backup or Shadowprotect. Drive referenced does not appear in Storage Manager but is actually the destination drive (NAS or USB). x 59 Jacob I got this on a good system/boot disk as woke up from hibernation. Computer showed BSOD, and upon reboot chkdsk found an orphaned system file. However, no after effects were noticed. x 46 Anonymous This event occurred for me because a driver wasn't successfully installed for an external backup drive. The solution was to download the driver from the manufacturer's website and install it myself.

How can this warning be resolved? This information applies to the following Operating System(s): - Microsoft Windows 2000 - Microsoft Windows XP - Microsoft Windows Server 2003 - Microsoft Windows Vista - Microsoft Windows Server 2008 An event id Event ID 51 is a generic error for any type of error that is encountered when paging information to Input/Output (I/O). A paging operation is when the operating system either swaps a page of memory from memory to disk, or retrieves a page of memory from disk to memory. It is part of the memory management of Microsoft Windows. However, every disk access is not necessarily paging I/O. It is possible for applications to perform non-buffered I/O to event id 51 access disk data. Another misconception is that it is not writing to the page file (Pagefile.sys), which the name implies, but to any type of data access. See Microsoft Knowledgebase Article Q244780 for more information. An Event ID 51 is similar to an Event ID 9 or 11. An Event ID 51 only occurs during a paging I/O. If this same error were to occur when there was not a paging operation, an event would not have been logged, which is unlike an Event ID 9 or 11. An Event ID 51 can be troublehooted in the same manner as an Event ID 9 or 11. For additional information see Answer ID 15055. Was this answer helpful? Another series of disk checks from the CD didn't come up with anything. After rebooting to Windows, the disk was just fine.Any idea what might be causing something like this? The disk is less than a year old and I doubt XP can find errors with it that Western Digital cannot. Thanks in advance for any hints. norton_I Ars Praefectus Registered: Apr 30, 2001Posts: 3785 Posted: Tue Dec 18, 2007 4:02 am Paging may also mean demand loading of executa
