Event Id 5719 Netlogon Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller
Windows NETLOGON 5719 at Startup lilwashu Jun 3, 2011 5:46 AM I am having what appears to event id 5719 this computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller be either a networking or guest startup issue with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 guest machines on my VSphere Essentials setup. Configuration is:HP BL460C G7 servers, 72GB RAM, https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/044e57eb-47a4-4988-92b5-faa68ad58025/netlogon-error-5719-windows-server-2008-r2-64bit?forum=windowsserver2008r2general with built in Emulex dual port 10Gb NICs and mezzanine NC632M dual port NICs (total 4 per host).NICs connected to HP C3000 blade enclosure and GBe2C HP (Nortel) interconnect switches which are then uplinked to HP 5304 modular switchESXi 4.1 Update 1 with Emulex driver updateThe issue I am seeing is that when Windows 2008 R2 https://communities.vmware.com/thread/316237?tstart=0 boots (this can be on a new install or a P2Ved install) it throws a NETLOGON 5719 (unable to establish a secure connection) error in the event log followed closely by a windows time lookup failure warning. I can log in OK and the errors do not reoccur, Group Policy applies OK and the time service syncs a couple of seconds after the initial warning. This only happens if the NIC is set to a static IP address. If I set it to DHCP (same address details as the static one), I do not get any errors at all. What appears to be happening is that NETLOGON is starting before the network has completely initialised. I have tried making it depend on another service etc, disabled portfast/STP on the switches and have seen no change. I have also read an MS article which says it can be ignored, however I don't like random errors and I have not seen this before in similar deployments with similar hardware. We
not longer authenticating to the DC (server 2003). From the server that is not authenticating, I can ping the DC, RDP to the DC, and access network shares from the DC. When I run echo http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/Event_ID_5719%C2%A0_Server_2008_Standard_connecting_to_DC_running_Ser/?TopicId=34979&Posts=7 %localhost%, it shows the correct DC. When I run netdom query dc, it says "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." I have reset the server password using netdom. Still no http://priyanknogriya.blogspot.com/2014/06/authentication-issue-event-id-1054-and.html change. One of the odd things that is happening is when I try to create a new SQL login (this is my sql server), it shows the domain as well as the members when I browse for event id username. When I select the user, it does not fill the information into the box. August 28th, 2012 1:42pm Paul, Can you verify that you still have a DNS Record for the server that is having issues authenticating to the DC? Is the DNS Service running on the server? Is the Workstation Service Running on the server? Do you have any Kerberos error messages? Did someone accidently reset the server's computer object in Active event id 5719 Directory? Did you add/enable a firewall on the system? Check to see if the Windows Advanced Firewall turned itself on. -Brenton Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now August 28th, 2012 1:51pm DNS is running on the DC. There is a single DNS record in the DNS service for both the system in question and the DC (and dns is resolving correctly on the system in question). Workstation service is runninng on the server in question. There are no Kerberos error messages. The server's computer object in AD is still present and looks like it has not been changed. The windows firewall is off and no other security software is installed on this system. ID 5719 in the eventlog. Server was not able to make secure channel with the DC. I tried to do telnet my DC on port 445(for netlogon) but was unfortunate. On my further investigation I found that if you keep doing telnetting continuosly ,it will connect it to your DC. This shows that there is a leak either in kernel or a problem lies with the phyical NIC/Switch Port. I did some below precheck before moving to resolution: Prechecks/confirmation of issue : 1. Ping domain controllers 2. Do ns lookup 3. Check DNS IP provided to the server 4. Run nltest /sc_verify:domain namein command prompt. This command checks the secure channel is being established to the DC via DNS>sites and services>nearest DC. If found successfully then run nltest /sc_reset:domain name . This will change the DC authentication to a new DC from the existing one. DO this many times and analyse the result . if its changing dc then secure channel is absolutely fine. But if not then move forward as below. 5. Try to access the \\dc\ and if its working fine too then move forward 6. Do telnet to below ports Telnet dcname 445 : This port is netlogon port Telnet dcname 3389 : RDP port Telnet dcname 135,137,138,139 : Port used by RPC end point mapper for collect dc information. 7. Run netstat and check which port is responding as" waiting" Resolution : I found that there is kernel socket leak happening within the server.I applied the below hotfix and it worked as expected. Thereafter didn't see any authentication issues with the server. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2577795 NOTE : This issue is only related to microsoftwindows server 2008R2 enterprise SP1.
