was unable to locate a DC for the domain it was trying to perform an operation against.
Most of the time this is caused by event id 5719 not enough storage is available to process this command network issues or name resolution (DNS/WINS) issues. Network devices (Switches/Routers/Firewalls) on the way are also on the list ofprime suspects behind Netlogon 5719 events. That includes the NIC drivers on both the client logging the event and DC's it is trying to reach. If this is being logged on a DC andthe eventrefers netlogon 5719 windows 7 startup to the DC'sown domain, something might be preventing the client component of Netlogon from starting a network session (to itself or to another DC in the domain). Since this is a client component error, port exhaustion can be one possible cause. If this is referring to remote trusted or trusting domains then connectivity and name resolution for those domains need to be investigated further. Less frequently, this is caused by a resource leak on the machine logging the event or the target DC(s) it is trying to talk to. If you're only seeing Netlogon 5719 at startup then the portthe machine is connected to on your switch may not be fully up when Netlogon starts.Netlogon is otherwise apatient client component andwill retry again 2 mins after the initial failure and every now and then after that until it is able to reach a DC. If yes, please refer to the following KB article: Event ID 5719 is logged when you start a computer on a domain, and the computer is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938449 The "DependOnService" registry key described in the KB identifies specific services that must be loaded before NETLOGON is loaded. It makes sure that the network interface card is ready before NETLOGON service's loading. 2. If no, is it possible we de-join and re-join the server to the domain? Then check how it works. Hope it helps.

I have exact same problem since I ran Microsoft updates last week. Please let me know. Thanks, Monday, February 25, 2008 4:40 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote We have had the same issue (netlogon / 5719) on Windows 2003 SP1 server from an batch file controlled script that is used to stop services, then shut down servers, and restart servers. The problem happened on the restart servers portion of the processing, specifically a SQL Server 2000 server. So far, our technical folks have not provided a pMonitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-5719-source-NETLOGON-eventno-104-phase-1.htm was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f8/solved-netlogon-error-every-4-hours-485177.html the admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything event id is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. read more...
