The Dfs Replication Service Is Stopping Communication With Partner Error 5014
Replication encountered an error while communicating with a replication partner during replication. DFS Replication will retry replication. Causes An unhealthy state of this monitor is caused by communication errors during replication. Communication errors can occur for the following reasons: General network connectivity issues DNS errors Firewall settings Lack of software updates on replication partners Resolutions Test basic network connectivity To test network connectivity with the affected server, use the following procedure: Open a command prompt window and then use the ping command to check basic network connectivity. If the ping command fails, it is likely that the server is not running, or has network problems that require local access to resolve. If ping is blocked in your network environment, skip this step. If the ping command is successful, test the server’s registration in DNS by using the nslookup command. If the nslookup command fails, there is a problem with DNS. Check the DNS server health or contact the DNS server administrator. If the nslookup command succeeds, DNS is working properly. Note: For more information about troubleshooting network issues, see article 325487 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=46059). Check Firewall

Error: 9033 (the Request Was Cancelled By A Shutdown)
been banging my head against the wall with this issue for the better part error id 9036 paused for backup or restore of two weeks now; here's hoping you guys can help me fix this. I have a two-server domain that I am this member is waiting for initial replication for replicated folder sysvol share. working with. Both servers are running Server 2008 R2 SP1, at full 2008 functional level. DFS-R is set to replicate a shared folder between the two, as well as the SysVol volumes on both servers. APP01 https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/dfsr-event-5002-dfs-replication.aspx is one of the servers, DC01 is the one giving me problems. My problem is this: every night at ~9:45 I get the following error for each replication group on DC01: The DFS Replication service is stopping communication with partner APP01 for replication group shared due to an error. The service will retry the connection periodically. Additional Information: Error: 9036 (Paused for backup or restore) Connection ID: D96F4693-34A8-44C4-9C6C-9F68C92CDF2B Replication Group ID: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/241234-dfs-replication-crashes-every-night-during-backup 60691732-94A1-4662-9FB1-CBF358E81B1E On my shared public folder, replication starts again with no issues. However, the SysVol folder does not start properly. Any changes to SysVol on DC01 are propagated outbound, but it does not read any changes from APP01 inbound until I have restarted the DFS-R service. When I do, everything starts working again. I have applied several hotfixes - including one pertaining to backups that so perfectly described my problem I was SURE it would work - as well as a half dozen other fixes I've found online, and I'm at my wits end. A quick dcdiag on DC01 gives me no errors except for DFSEvents - which reports the issues I've already described. Some things I've read online suggest that a backup might be causing this, but my backups do not run until 11PM. I am getting the following error as well, although I'm not sure it is related: The description for Event ID 3041 from source MSSQL$MICROSOFT##SSEE cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. and trying to increase my knowledge by self study - its hard to keep this active. Straight to the point... We took over the IT for a two branch estate agent down the road from us who are all using fairly old computers (mostly Vista! - cringe with me) an SBS 2008 on some crappy hardware, massive lack of updates, no backup to speak of, the offsite online wasn't working and hadn't been for months. The previous company were a large national IT support company, who are supposedly excellent and had local IT staff dedicated to each area ... One of the jobs I've had was to make the DFSR work between their head office and the other office on the other side of the city, which had a local Windows 2008 R2 server. Over a slow DSL connection. After days and days of hitting DFSR with everything I could throw at it, I have now got a perfect replication going on. This thing replicates changes over a slow ass link, in no time at all. I'll assume you know a thing or two about Windows Server and administering it. I'll assume you've used something like "dfsrdiag backlog /rgname:server.local\company\share /rfname:share /sendingmember:Svr01 /receivingmember:Svr02 >>Backlog.txt" to figure out how large your backlog is and that you do indeed have a problem. I'll list below the things which I found to aid in solving the replication issues. Hotfixes, hotfixes, hotfixes! Install all those you can, there's a nice long list here, try to install them in chronological order, from oldest to newest (that might not be necessary, but I did it that way as I wanted to be thorough)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968429 Check the size of the Staging Area, if its ridiculously large, decrease it. This one was set to 70Gb and the staging folder was using 60Gb in actual size!!! Do this using the DFS Snap-in. Exclude the hidden "dfsrPRIVATE" folder from AV scans, maybe have a look around and exclude the files themselves incase your AV still tries to scan them. Apparently some AV programs don't always abide by these exclu
