Comments: Anonymous I had this issue on a DC (running DNS) after installing routing https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/135404 and remote access for PPTP VPN connectivity. Microsoft’s ME292822 resolved the issue. x 84 Anonymous I had this problem on a Windows 2003 R2 Server x32 running in Microsoft Virtual Server 2005. The server was multihomed and running a teaming load balance between the two NICs. The server itself had no problems but the Virtual Server running on it did. I performed the following registry tweak to resolve the problem. Change the following registry key value http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-8032-source-BROWSER-eventno-118-phase-1.htm to False and reboot the computer: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\MaintainServerList”. x 127 Anonymous I was seeing this event along with Event ID 8021 from the same source. I ran Netdiag and found that the Messenger service was disabled. Windows Domain Controllers need this service running. I started this service and both errors did not return. x 89 R. Hodge ME188305 is a useful article with information on troubleshooting MASTER BROWSER issues in Windows servers. If you are having a particular problem with a server that is part of the domain and it is constantly forcing elections to be the Master Browser, look at the subnet mask and make sure it is correct. I had this issue with one server. x 82 EventID.Net The computer that shows this event is a backup browser. Backup browsers periodically retrieve the browse list from the master browser. The event notifies you that the computer could not retrieve the browse list from the master browser five times consecutively. See MSW2KDB for possible causes for this event. As per Microsoft: "If the browser client is trying to locate a browser server on each endpoint, it waits until it either one receives valid information or times out on each endpoint before returning. This process can be slow if there is an endpoint that does not contain browser servers. When this is completed, the lists ar

I've tried to search out solutions but every solution I find appears to https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/78160-the-browser-service-has-failed-to-retrieve-the-backup-list-too-many-times discuss servers or network groups - I don't own a server, nor have I ever set up a network group on either computer. Both computers have been connected via the same router for a few years and event id ran flawlessly, these issues only started recently with the last two months. No new hardware, or changes have been made to either computer during or before that time. I don't own a printer, webcam and neither computer is or was ever set up to share anything with each other. My win 7 computer does have an external 2000 GB hooked up but even after removing it these errors occur. This computer is running win event id 8032 7 64 bit, the second (A-Home) is running win xp still. My win 7 computer is the computer used the most. These are the three most occurring errors. Error - Event ID 8021 The browser service was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\A-HOME on the network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7EBB5F5D-0D9F-4100-8FA6-9A058B757ED2}. Browser master: \\A-HOME Network: \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7EBB5F5D-0D9F-4100-8FA6-9A058B757ED2} This event may be caused by a temporary loss of network connectivity. If this message appears again, verify that the server is still connected to the network. The return code is in the Data text box. Error - Event ID 8032 The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7EBB5F5D-0D9F-4100-8FA6-9A058B757ED2}. The backup browser is stopping. Error - Event ID 2 Session "Homegroup Log" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035 Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I can provide any other info that might be required. Cheers. Esau, Aug 11, 2014 #1 Sponsor lunarlander Joined: Sep 21, 2007 Messages: 7,156 There is a computer browser service in services.msc. Try disabling it. If you don't have any folder sharing going on, then this service is unnecessary. lunarlander, Aug 11, 2014 #2 Esau Thread Starter Joined: Jun 28, 2004 Messages: 86 Thanks for the reply Lunarlander. TECHNOLOGY IN THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hey guys. I have an interesting situation. I took Friday off for a break due to some personal stuff. Got in Monday (yesterday), and the File/Print Server had locked up completely, and would not allow access to shares, or RDP. We could all still print. I could not even log in (at the machine either, not just RDP), as it would not come up. So, after forcing a reboot, I checked the logs, and this is what I saw: The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{ Etc Etc Etc. This is Event ID 8032 On Windows Server 2003 R2 Ent. Now, my domain controller seemed fine, but as the day progressed, it had to be rebooted twice as well. Clients were experiencing all sorts of really strange issues all day. Everything online says disable the computer browser service on the file server, which I haven't checked into doing as I am worried with that being related to NetBIOS and this server (file/print server) handling shares, I may really screw up our networking. Can anyone provide a solution or a suggestion, or even some insight into this? Thanks in advance my homeys!
