I've tried to search out solutions but every solution I find appears to discuss servers or network groups - I don't own a server, nor have I ever set up a network group on event id either computer. Both computers have been connected via the same router for a few years and ran flawlessly, these issues only started recently with the last two months. No new hardware, or changes have been made to either computer during or before that time. I don't own a printer, webcam and neither computer is or was ever set up to share anything with each other. My win the browser service 7 computer does have an external 2000 GB hooked up but even after removing it these errors occur. This computer is running win 7 64 bit, the second (A-Home) is running win xp still. My win 7 computer is the computer used the most. These are the three most occurring errors. Error - Event ID 8021 The browser service was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\A-HOME on the network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7EBB5F5D-0D9F-4100-8FA6-9A058B757ED2}. Browser master: \\A-HOME Network: \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7EBB5F5D-0D9F-4100-8FA6-9A058B757ED2} This event may be caused by a temporary loss of network connectivity. If this message appears again, verify that the server is still connected to the network. The return code is in the Data text box. Error - Event ID 8032 The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7EBB5F5D-0D9F-4100-8FA6-9A058B757ED2}. The backup browser is stopping. Error - Event ID 2 Session "Homegroup Log" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035 Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I can provide any other info that might be required. What the serial link is being used for is a one time setup of cutting information before the cutting begins. I am using VB6 and MSComm for this. I know the port itself has lunched because after it occurs other serial comm software (diagnostics, etc) can't access the port either. I would like to understand what MSCOmm is doing when it received this error so I can find a better hardware solution. vb6 serial-port share|improve this question edited Oct 10 '12 at 19:55 dsolimano 6,10832746 asked Feb 19 '10 at 20:47 RS Conley 6,5711232 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Try using a different OCX www.comm32.com has a control that mimics mscomm but has many improvements share|improve this answer answered Feb 25 '10 at 19:21 Ian 361 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote Mscomm32.ocx is still fully supported by Microsoft. You could ask their support people to help. If you have an MSDN subscription, you may be entitled to free support incidents. Apologies if you'd already thought of that, I hope someone else can give you a direct solution. share|improve this answer answered Feb 20 '10 at 12:06 MarkJ 24.9k34878 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote I've got the same problem and that is why entered into this forum. After going deeper into the problem of communication getting lost, found the intermitence belongs to my USB-RS232 converter module. Mainly because it is working controling external hardware it gets exposed to electrical noise causing a disruption to the USB-RS232 module. It gets resolved by unplugging it and putting it back, or by turning off the whole system. Make sure your software issue is not a hardare problem share|improve this answer answered Sep 28 '12 at 21:41 Pedro Chavarria 111 1 The OP was asking about MSComm and what it is doing when the error occurs. –psub
