Event ID 1002 — DHCP Client Address Conflicts Updated: December 11, 2007Applies To: Windows Server 2008 Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) operates on a lease renewal basis. During the leasing process, IP address conflicts can occur as leases are renewed and expired. Client lease requests might be denied by the server for invalid (out of pool) or duplicate IP addresses. Multiple IP address conflict messages can indicate that your lease period, your scope, or both, need adjustment in your DHCP server configuration. English: This information is only available to subscribers. event id An example of English, please! Concepts to understand: What is DHCP? What is the MAC address? What is a DHCP Lease? Comments: Anonymous In my case, releasing and renewing the IP address configuration fixed the problem. x 36 Anonymous In my case, it was an IP Address that has been (mistakenly) kept by the OS and is on a event id 1002 totally different subnet than the present network. The solution was to open command prompt and type ipconfig /release, then type ipconfig /renew. x 28 Anonymous In my case, restarting the router solved the problem. x 24 EventID.Net As per Microsoft: "This could be caused by a scope change. For example, when a roaming laptop moves from one network to another, its IP address lease might need renewal. When the DHCP Client service tries to renew the address, that request might go to a different server that will not extend the lease either because it does not know about this address lease or because it has already issued the address lease to another client". See MSW2KDB for additional information on this event. x 24 Juergen Tauschl The client computer did not receive an IP address from the DHCP server. The cause was a “BAD ADDRESS” entry in the DHCP server leases for the IP address reserved for that computer. After deleting this entry, the correct IP address was given. x 30 EventID.Net See ME830525 for details on this
