Creating The Ntds Settings Object For This Active Directory Domain Controller Stuck
Sign in to vote Running Server 2008,I'm getting a lot of GP errors and a lot of my could not find the domain controller for this domain. (1908) GP settings are not applying. On initial investigation, it appears that it has something to due with the "Registry failed" (unspecified error) error. When I run a GPUpdate I get two 1125's at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2737935 the computer level.Details off the System log indicate "Paremeter is incorrect".RSoP reports only the "Registry failed" under Component Status, no errors under Policy Events.Advanced view off of RSoP shows no errors on individual policies (Computer section has the exclamation mark though).I tried removing the custom registry settings I applied through GP Preferences, did a GPUpdate, but the errors were still there. These errors https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/3474500f-4158-4def-9fca-e46e38113b97/registry-failed-error-1125-unspecified-error?forum=winserverGP occur on both client (2 OU Deep) and server (1 OU Deep) side.I looked at another thread that stated they had a similar problem here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistasecurity/thread/c45a02f3-752f-4d9a-ae4b-fc1f8c38cd63/...but there was really no solution. How do I locate what's causing the error and fix it? All servers are Windows Server 2012 R2 VMs running on the Azure cloud platform, connected to the same virtual network; they have statically reserved IP addresses and they can talk to each other without any networking issue. My domain structure is (or at least should event id 1125 be) as follows: A0.lab (forest root) B0.lab / \ / \ A1 A2 B1 B2 | | A3 A3 Thus: A0.lab (forest root) A1.A0.lab A2.A0.lab A3.A1.A0.lab B0.lab B1.B0.lab B2.B0.lab B3.B1.B0.lab I've created the forest root domain (A0.lab) successfully and I've defined an AD site and its subnet; the domain is operating correctly. Next, I've configured the server which should become the domain controller for the first child domain (A1.A0.lab) to use the root DC as its DNS server, and I've started the promotion wizard; I've filled in all the parameters, including the user account of the domain admin for the root domain and the option to create a DNS delegation; all the prerequisite checks are successful. When I start the actual promotion process, it stalls at the "Replicating the schema directory partition" stage. The "Directory Service" event log is repeatedly filled with several errors: Event ID 1963, source ActiveDirectory_DomainService, task category DS RPC Client: Internal event: The following local directory service received an exception from a remote procedure call (RPC) connection. Extensive RPC information was requested. This is intermediate information and might not contain a possible cause.
