New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the admins. Keeping an eye symmpi event id 15 on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Event ID: 15 Source: Disk Source: Disk Type: Error Description:The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, is not ready for access yet. English: Request a translation of the event description in plain English. Comments: EventID.Net This problem occurs because a timing issue in the Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service causes a deadlock condition. See ME941692 for a hotfix applicable to Microsoft Windows Server 2003. x 14 Peter Hayden In one case, a http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-15-source-Disk-eventno-2088-phase-1.htm computer was running Windows 2000 Server that had an Adaptec 2110S Ultra3 SCSI Adapter that was being used to control separate C: and D: drives. After a while when Windows loaded, this Event ID appeared. Eventually when the computer was started up, the first drive no longer appeared in the list displayed by the SCSI Adapter and it would not boot from the C: drive. This was due to the SCSI drive being misaligned on the SCSI drive caddie rails, which caused the SCSI connector at the back of the drive to push the socket at the back of the SCSI drive caddie out of alignment. The computer manufacturer repaired the problem. x 10 Eugene I tracked this problem down to a FastTrak RAID controller on the system board that had no devices attached to it. After it was disabled in the BIOS, the problem went away. x 9 EventID.Net As per Microsoft: "Check the version of the SCSI controller BIOS and the device firmware revision. Contact the manufacturer for the latest updates. Check the SCSI device driver version. The SCSI driver is located in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers folder. Look for the version in the file properties, and check whether the SCSI manufacturer has a newer version". " when I attempt to do a backup using Backup Exec 9. Ran chkdsk /f and it came up clean. Any thoughts on where I should start to troubleshoot? I'm running a tape autoloader on a SCSI controller that I believe is seperate from my Array controller. I'm a bit of a novice, so bear with me. I believe that I'm getting this error, and event id 15 it is affecting my backup exec remote agent for Exchange somehow, as that is where I am getting failed backups. It could be outdated drivers for your controller causing this error. 0 LVL 9 Overall: Level 9 Windows 2000 8 Message Expert Comment by:MSGeek2004-03-05 This ero may be a precursor to a hardware failure as well. I have it at on site right now, new server just came in. DR0 is your array. WHat is the manufacturer of your server? CPQ/HP..? Make sure al your drivers are current, check that all fans are clear and you don't hav ean overheating problem. Run the manufacturers diags, Library & Tape Tools for HPQs. 0 LVL 51 Overall: Level 51 Windows 2000 12 Message Active 6 days ago Expert Comment by:Netman662004-03-05 Never put the tape on the RAID controller. Move it to the external SCSI channel and use it off that. 0 Message Author Comment by:psully5220
