I have had my computer randomly restart on me 6 times this last month and I am trying to narrow down the cause (driver, hardware, electrical, ect.) The only thing I am seeing in Event Viewer is "Level = Critical, Source = Kernel-Power, Event ID = 41, Task http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/46250-63-random-restarts-critical-kernel-power-event-task Category = 63" The first 4 times it happened it showed bug check 0, like this: BugcheckCode 0 BugcheckParameter1 0x0 BugcheckParameter2 0x0 BugcheckParameter3 0x0 BugcheckParameter4 0x0 SleepInProgress false PowerButtonTimestamp 0 The last 2 times have been different though, they have shown this: BugcheckCode 59 BugcheckParameter1 0xc0000005 BugcheckParameter2 0xfffff880071c23d0 BugcheckParameter3 0xfffff8800a9f9790 BugcheckParameter4 0x0 SleepInProgress false PowerButtonTimestamp 0 and also this: BugcheckCode 26 BugcheckParameter1 0x41790 BugcheckParameter2 0xfffffa8000b9d480 BugcheckParameter3 0xffff BugcheckParameter4 0x0 SleepInProgress false PowerButtonTimestamp 0 This last time I also got a BSOD, which I wasn't getting before (the computer would just restart without a BSOD) Any ideas? This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. what does this means? that my PSU is malfunctioning? GPU? RAM? every component is new and not OC'd so i don't really know what to do: MOBO: gygabite GA-880GM-D2H CPU: FX-8350 GPU: R9-290 PSU: Seasonic S12G 750w 80 plus GOLD RAM: 8GB Team Elite (one stick) OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit Pro (Genuine and licensed) More about : kernel power event id 41 event task category random restarts Msi_Junu 7 October 2014 05:09:33 I have the same problem. Build my PC as of late April. Been on this case for 2 weeks now. Did clean windows install, reseated everything and going to finally check my psu before taking it to best buy for diagnosis. Its just hard for me to believe that there would be anything wrong with hardware but I could be wrong. One thing I do know is that its voltage related. Don't have any heat issues and the pc works like a charm just shuts off at a completely random a** time. Sometimes a minute after login at idle, while browsing and while gaming (although rarely when gaming which is weird) other times i would let it run for the weekend and do all of that and no issues. Then I would turn it off come back 2 to 3 days later turn it on and it would shut off at idle after a minute. Its just Fu**king a**.... Anyways I will let you know how the diagnosis goes and perhaps you can relate to it and in the mean time if anybody had this issue pleeeeaase let us know what in the sh*t this is and if it could be a OS manufacturing BS or something like that... UPDATE___________Or something related to the Intel Power Management and the chips that certain MB's have integrated...... m 0 l Paul NZ 7 Octobe

Still having bad luck with computers I guess. System specs are listed on my profile. I've been having problems with my pc restarting, event log shows Event 41 Kernel Power. It happens while playing Dead Space 3 within 5 minutes, but happens during other games occasionally. I thought it was software, until it started happening in my bios within a few seconds. I've tested the ram, switched both sticks, put them in different slots, etc. I've disabled all power saving options and nothing is overclocked. Usually it's random but I can trigger it in the bios and while playing Dead Space 3. I unplugged the reset wire to see if there was a short but it didn't work. This is the same PSU from my last build though, so I'm not sure if that's the problem. There's no way it can be software, right? If it's happening before the OS even loads. I also unplugged my SSD and HDD and still no luck. I'm not sure what else to do except RMA the mobo and/or the PSU.
