I am unable to find any resolutions on the error above, this occures at startup and the only info is in the event log posted below. I did a upgrade repair on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit retail SP1 w/ all updates the other day, so I uninstalled the product via the uninstaller with a full uninstall. After I re-installed NIS 21 and updated it, the log still should the same error. Any help is appreciated,, Log Name: SystemSource: Service Control ManagerDate: 05/16/2014 6:24:12 PMEvent ID: 7026Task Category: NoneLevel: ErrorKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: Win7ProDescription:The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:SymIMEvent Xml: following error in my event log: Log Name: System Source: Service Control Manager Date: 30-7-2010 8:52:42 Event ID: 7026 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: servername Description: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: cdrom As the server does not have a cdrom drive, this is an somewhat expected error (although I don’t understand why Windows wants to start the cdrom service since the server has never had a cdrom drive connected :) ). Anyways, to prevent this error from appearing in your event viewer, you should disable the cdrom service. To do so, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type “regedit” and click OK Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\cdrom\ Double-click “Start” and change the value from 1 to 4 Click OK and reboot the computer. The service cdrom will now not start at startup One thought on “Event 7026: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: cdrom” igor says: February 15, 2012 at 1:08 pm Thank you for the hint! Indeed this fixed the problem. Also you may change service "start" method via cmd: sc config cdrom start= disabled Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.Comment Name Email Website Post navigation SCOM: DNS 2003 Server External Addresses Resolution AlertError code 0x80091007 during Task Sequence Recent Posts Solution to "SQL Server reported SQL message 50000, severity 16" September 30, 2016 Failed to run Task Sequence - error 0x80004005 in SCCM September 1, 2016 Copy all users from one group to another August 17, 2016 Resource x referenced in attribute displayName could not be found in RSOP August 4, 2016 No result data.
