Comments: EventID.Net From a support forum: This is how I fixed this problem on my https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/317541 computer. I have Symantec SEP 11 and one of the updates changed the way the system user account accesses the Internet and it now no longer uses the proxy settings from Internet Explorer. To specify the proxy settings for this user you must run proxycfg.exe from command line: usage: proxycfg -? : to view help information proxycfg : to view current WinHTTP proxy settings proxycfg [-d] [-p []] -d : set http://www.eventid.net/display-eventid-8-source-crypt32-eventno-1958-phase-1.htm direct access -p : set proxy server(s), and optional bypass list proxycfg -u : import proxy settings from current user's Microsoft Internet Explorer manual settings (in HKCU) x 60 3m1l This behavior can occur if the Update Root Certificates component is turned on and the computer cannot connect to the Windows Update server on the Internet. To resolve this behavior, you must connect to the Internet or turn off the Update Root Certificates component. To turn off the Update Root Certificates component, follow these steps: 1.In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs. 2.Click Add/Remove Windows Components. 3.Click to clear the Update Root Certificates check box, and then continue with the Windows Components Wizard. x 90 John Rigali For more information and solution from Microsoft, see T734054. x 52 Anonymous Caused by the computer wither not have a connection to the Internet or there being something like a proxy server in between. Cause: In my case, the cause was incorrect proxy server configuration due to which WinHTTP could not go onto the internet. Solution: We would need the utility ProxyCfg to configure proxy configuration for WinHTTP services. This is an inbuilt tool on Windows 2003 server. Use this tool to configure proxy server setting: ProxyCfg -p This would configure WinHTTP server to go through my Web proxy ‘MyServer’ on port 80 If you already have IE configured with Proxy server configuraiton, you can copy those settings for WinHTTP by using the command: ProxyCfg -u The above command will simply download Internet Explorer’s Proxy configuration for WinHTTP. For Windows 2008 and later, we do no have Proxycfg utility. We need to use Netsh WinHTTP command. For displaying the current setting: Netsh WinHTTP Show Proxy For configuring Proxy server: Netsh WinHTTP Set Proxy ← Previous post Next post → Categories Articles MS Exchange Tools Troubleshoot Tutorials Uncategorized Archives Archives Select Month September 2016 January 2016 December 2015 October 2015 September 2014 August 2014 April 2014 March 2014 January 2014 December 2013 October 2013 July 2013 June 2013 May 2013 January 2013 September 2012 August 2012 July 2012 May 2012 April 2012 December 2011 November 2011 October 2011 September 2011 July 2011 June 2011 May 2011 April 2011 March 2011 February 2011 January 2011 December 2010 October 2010 September 2010 August 2010 July 2010 June 2010 April 2010 February 2010 January 2010 December 2009 Nove
