and can be found on querry. However, unable to log into any of the worstations I get the message "no username or incorrect password" (tried several workstations but I can log into http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Windows+Operating+System&ProdVer=5.2&EvtID=1311&EvtSrc=NTDS+KCC DC with new user account) using the samenew user id andA ADquerryfrom the workstation does not find the user. So I am thinking it is an AD problem THe directory service logs on my DC are showing the events below. I know we lost a child domain a couple of months agoThe child domainis mentioned in the warning also there are several other sites https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/77b9238f-a1e0-4ebb-bd69-50a43395aa05/ntds-kcc-error-replication-problem-where-should-i-start-?forum=winserverDS setup in sites and services that we no longer have and are tied to other DC that we no longer can reach. My question is this should I start removing sites (tied to child domains) using sites and services MMC. THen use NTDSutil to try and remove the child domains or remove the child domains first. If I am way off base in thinking it is an AD problem - Please put me on the correct path, I have been scratching my head for 2 days on this thing and I am out of ideas. What is a directory service? Comments: Anonymous This event sometimes may be logged along with event id 1988 which identifies "lingering objects" on one or more DCs. In our case, replication wasn''t occurring as a result of the lingering object and after removing the lingering object (see T736571 for syntax) the replication problems were gone. x 8 Anonymous I was receiving this event followed by EventID 1312 from source NTDS KCC. The Intersite Messaging service was disabled on one of my domain controllers. Enabling and starting this service cleared up the issue. x 11 Anonymous Our environment was a mixed one, with 2k and 2k3 DCs. We installed ME913446 on the Win2k3 DCs and ME893066 on the Win2k DCs. Then, we added the following DWORD values under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters: Value name:EnablePMTUBHDetect Value:1 Value name:MTU Value:1360 After a reboot, the problem was solved. x 6 Anonymous In my case, I had to modify the ISTG (Inter-Site Topology Generator) role in Active Directory. The ISTG role was not hold by the bridge-head server. After assigning it to the bridge-head server, the problem was gone. In the Microsoft knowledgebase t

Basically a hub and spoke model for topology. I then want the 2 DC's in winhost to replicate to only ad1/2 as well., but I am getting this error in one of my offsite DC's.
