In the morning, when they try to log in, the system logs them into a tempory profile. After rebooting server, these users can log with their profile. My server reboots every night around 3 a.m. - but I still have to do a manual reboot of it first thing in the morning to allow these users to log in with their profiles. In event id 1508 the event viewer, i find the follow errors: (using one profile as example) Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1508 Date: 12/12/2008 Time: 6:52:54 AM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: HSIWIN Description: Windows was unable to load the registry. Solution Following are the registry keys responsible for retaining the user information: Caution! Refer to the Disclaimer at the end of this article before using Registry Editor. HKEY_USERS\.Default\Printers\Devmodes2 HKEY_USERS\.Default\Printers\DevModePerUser Complete the following procedure to resolve the issue: Disable connections to the server so that no user information is written while you are making changes. Back up both registry keys. You cannot delete them directly from the user interface of the registry, because these keys are bloated or overloaded. To verify this, select the key and observe the registry user interface. The ”Not responding” message appears. Therefore, it is safer to delete these keys from the registry because of the instability of the user interface and the size. To delete the two registry keys, run the commands, as shown in the following screen shots: Verify if the information was deleted by checking HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Devmodes2 and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser. HKEY_CURRENT_USER is an alias for the actual user's information that is contained in the HKEY_USERS hive. Modifying one will always modify both. Recreate the following keys: HKEY_USERS\.Default\Printers\Devmodes2 HKEY_USERS\.Default\Printers\DevModePerUser To recreate each key: Right-click the printers hive in HKEY_USERS\.Default\Printers. Select New, and then select the option, Key. Note: An alternative to removing all the content from the registry keys is by executing the following: reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser" /va /f reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModes2" /va /f Repeat this for all HKEY_USERS .DEFAULT, S-1-5-18, S-1-5-19 and S-1-5-20 keys Problem Cause The errors are displayed when the regist
