Because application pools depend on the Windows Process Activation Service (WAS), you may have to restart WAS. If you restart WAS, you may also have to restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC), which depends on WAS. for

According to Event Viewer logs, this was caused event id bya series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool. Much like the reported warnings posted in topic Application Pool disabled automaticallywe also detected the following error:A worker process 'XXX' serving application pool 'YYY' failed to process serving application stop a listener channel for protocol 'http' in the allotted time. The data field contains the error number. Following up on the data field, Microsoft´s Technet article Event ID 5138 — IIS Protocol Adapter Availabilitydoesn´t suggest any other approach than simplyrestarting the application pool. This obviously isn´t a final solution... anyone with previous experience (or ideas) on this matter? It is intermittent and there is no pattern to this. When I try to access it afterwards, IE just waits for IIS to respond, which it doesn't do, unless I restart IIS. This is on my local machine, running Vista Ultimate x64, VS 2008, 1 web application, 8 additional class libraries. --UPDATE-- In the System log, there's an entry for each time it's happened: A worker process '8068' serving application pool 'MyCustomAppPool' failed to stop a listener channel for protocol 'http' in the allotted time. The data field contains the error number.
