I built a new DC and immediately the event log warned me of the following event: "Event ID 2089: This directory partition has not been backed up since at least the following number https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/25337227/Why-do-I-get-Event-ID-2089-This-directory-partition-has-not-been-backed-up-since-at-least-the-following-number-of-days-even-though-backups-report-success.html of days" This is for the primary domain partition. I looked at other DCs that should already be in the backup rotation and the backups report success yet every DC reports this same error for this particular partition. Normally I'm aware of what causes it, that being an unsuccessful System State backup, however in this case all reports success. As such I'm perplexed. Note: I am using Netbackup 6.5, my servers are Windows 2003 R2 SP2. This issue only happens to one particular domain. I have other domains under the same Netbackup policies and they report no issues. I've seen reports regarding Backup Exec having this issue and it stemming from lack of access on the backup exec service account, but Netbackup works differently. The local system authority performs the client backups, which of course has access. I look forward to any suggestions. Also, is there an actual attribute on the partition that controls this error message? I'd like to actually see the last time this thing has successfully been backed up. I have a concern that this particular message is occurring on all of my domain controllers because none of them are successfully backing it up. Furthermore, say the backup is finally successful on one DC. This error should go away on all DCs, but how can I verify the bac

It is recommended that you take a backup as often as possible to recover from accidental loss of event id 2089 data. However if you haven't taken a backup since at least the 'backup latency interval' number of days, this message will be logged every day until a backup is taken. You can take a backup of any replica that holds this partition.
By default the 'Backup latency interval' is set to half the 'Tombstone Lifetime Interval'. If you want to change the default 'Backup latency interval', you could do so by adding the following registry key.
'Backup latency interval' (days) registry key:
System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters\Backup Latency Threshold (days) Are there any settings etc in my Veeam job that can tell Windows that it is being backed up? (similar to the way you can clear the Exchange logs via the Veeam backup job). mjgreen81 Enthusiast Posts: 60 Liked: 1 time Joined: Mon Feb 18, 2013 3:06 pm Full Name: Mike Green Private message Top Re: Event ID 2089 on Server - Can I use Veeam to stop this e by v.Eremin » Tue May 07, 2013 9:40 am people like this post
