Also check the local group policy (gpedit.msc). If one is configuring this, try setting to "Not Configured" as see if the issue goes away. Otherwise it would look like the security extension is having problems. ErrorCode 127 CSEExtensionName Internet Explorer Branding CSEExtensionId {A2E30F80-D7DE-11D2-BBDE-00C04F86AE3B} The reason for this behavior is that Internet Explorer Maintenance or Internet Explorer Branding which has https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/82817-event-id-7016-internet-explorer-branding-error been removed from windows 2012 & windows 8.1 Steps (3 total) 1 Following are the scenario and related solution – 1. Not changing IE policy after migrating from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008. Solution: Follow Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2722241/en-us and remove following Unique ID for client extension- {A2E30F80-D7DE-11d2-BBDE-00C04F86AE3B] // Internet Explorer Maintenance policy processing
{FC715823-C5FB-11D1-9EEF-00A0C90347FF} // Internet event id Explorer Maintenance Extension protocol IEM Client side extension needs to be removed from all the GPO. This can be done by running following query and removing client extension for individual GPO http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/82834-convert-gpo-guid-to-string dsquery * -filter "(&(gPCUserExtensionNames=*{A2E30F80-D7DE-11D2-BBDE-00C04F86AE3B}*))" Following Powershell command can be used to convert GUID to String: Get-gpo -guid or run following script GUID.ps $datasource=Import-Csv "guid.csv" foreach($datarecord in event id 7016 $datasource) { $guid=$datarecord.guid get-gpo -guid $guid } 2. Having mix mode env. where existing IE policy was defined on Windows 2003 server by using IEM and redeploying IE policy for latest version (IE 8 and above) on Windows 2008 domain controller where IEM option has been replaced by Preferences. Solution: Create new GPO for IE from Windows 2008 DC, link to appropriate OU and disable old GPO. In my experience, IE policy was defined under Default Domain policy from Windows 2003. so, I have to restrict all admins using windows 2003 server for any changes. Created new Domain based IE policy and enabled it; removed all IE setting manually from Default Domain Policy. Since, we kept windows 2003 server for little longer than expected we were seeing issue where user were not getting IE policy during first logon. In this case user just need logoff and login back. After dooming Windows 2003 DC, make sure new IE domain policy doesn’t have IEM extension GUID under gPCUserExtensionNames by following Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2722241/en
