How To Fix Automated Method: The first way to fix this is automated using a Microsoft Fixit utility that is designed specifically for this error message. It is Microsoft Fix It 50688. Just download this onto your computer and walk through the installation process. When completed, reboot the computer and see if there's a new log entry for the WMI service. If there's no errors then this method fixed the issue. Manual Method: If the above method doesn't fail, or you're just a manual type of person, you can use this method instead. Open Notepad and copy the following script into a blank document. When completed, save the file as Workaround.vbs. strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _
& "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" _
& strComputer & "\root\subscription")
Set obj1 = objWMIService.ExecQuery("select * from __eventfilter where name='BVTFilter' and query='SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA ""Win32_Processor"" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99'")

Two errors (sources are WMI and Service Control Manager) are seen very often that on every start-up they occures(or at log on?): ( The event id 10 first two errors ) Details from the General tab of the first error(i.e WMI) is given below: Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. And the details from the second one is: The NEWDRIVER service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. Also, I am seeing a delayed log-on(do not know whether it is related)? Do anyone know what these errors are and how to rectify it? windows-7 event-viewer error-logging share|improve this question asked Jan 15 at 15:00 RogUE 713725 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote The WMI error is a known issue: From Microsoft's KB2545227: Cause: This originated in the Windows 7 SP1 DVD/ISO creation process. There was an issue in the creation process that caused a WMI registration to remain in the DVD/ISO. Since the registration is designed to work only during the DVD/ISO creation process, it fails to run on a live system and cause

Take ownership of the folder or the contents of the folder "C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Repository." I've done this three times now on different installs and didn't have any issues after doing this, but I suggest you back up the folder to be certain. Delete the contents of the folder. Reboot. When you boot into Vista, you might notice a half dozen or so application errors...it's OK.Reboot again, and Event ID 10 will be gone, along with the afore mentioned application errors.Good luck, I'm not responsible for you hosing your system, & all that.
