The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume I ran chkdsk and no errors found. Windows starts and seems to be working fine. I did not install software before http://serverfault.com/questions/574977/windows-2003-ntfs-error-event-55-every-15-minutes the errors started. Any suggestions? windows ntfs windows-event-log logging share|improve this question edited Feb 12 '14 at 14:21 Dave M 4,21052228 asked Feb 12 '14 at 11:32 user1722669 133 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote Did you run check disk against all disks? You would need to run it against each volume, such as chkdsk D: and so on. share|improve this answer answered Feb 12 '14 at 16:03 arcesso 18211 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote The data section of the event, formatted as WORDS, will usually give you an NTSTATUS value which might help you narrow down on what the problem is - although it will probably just tell you that you have a corrupt file - maybe going as far as to say a corrupt system file or corrupt eventlog file. If you want to work out exactly which file or directory is corrupt, you can use Sysinternals Process Monitor. Run Process Monitor (procmon) before the next expected occurrence of the file corrupt error being logged to the system log. Protip: Run procmon with the /noconnect switch to prevent it from instantly logging everything. Turn off registry and network monitoring, and just leave the file monitorin

I have tried a checkdisk on it and it completed but still the errors remain. I found a Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932578 but I have the drive set up for 4096 block size not smaller so not sure it applies. The server runs a document management system so it does have lots of small files. There were none of these errors in the event log before the P2V. Has anyone else come across this before not sure whether re doing the P2V would help.Running ESX 4 update 2, with an iSCSI DS3300 SAN.Thanks in advance. 2839Views Tags: none (add) sanContent tagged with san, esx4Content tagged with esx4, esxi_4Content tagged with esxi_4, iscsiContent tagged with iscsi, storageContent tagged with storage, p2vContent tagged with p2v This content has been marked as final. Also, did you re-size the volumes as part of the P2V?Good Luck! Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 2. Re: Event ID 55 ntfs corruption errors after P2V of a Windows Server 2003 machine a2alpha Jul 8, 2010 8:32 AM (in response to vmroyale) We didn't need to resize during the P2V process so left it as is, it had been raided so separate C: and D:, I kept the two disks as separate vmdks.Do you think it is worth running the checkdisk on the physical server as there were no errors in the events up to the point of P2V?Thanks,Dan Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 3.
