of the performance library "C:\WINDOWS\system32\perf-MSSQL$SQLSERVER-sqlctr10.50.1600.1.dll" for the "MSSQL$SQLSERVER" service does not match the trusted performance library information stored in the registry. The functions in this library will not be treated as trusted." I have not seen any performance issues or anything, but I stumbled across this and I don't know how something wrong could have lodctr /t happened to one instance and not another. Info MSSQLServer Performance Counter Exception - Event 2003 Posted on November 2, 2010 by David Masciangelo I was assisting a colleague of mine troubleshoot some problems on a server this morning when I ran across this Event in the Application Event Log: Event ID: 2003 Source: Perflib Description: The configuration information of the performance library "C:\Windows\system32\sqlctr90.dll" for the "MSSQLSERVER" service does not match the trusted performance library information stored in the registry. The functions in this library will not be treated as trusted. After Googling the error I found that you can resolve this exception by manually re-registering the SQL Server performance counters with Windows Server. Unload Performance Counters Manually unload SQL Server performance counters using unlodctr.exe. From a command line type: unlodctr.exe MSSQLServer Manually load Performance Counters Manually loading performance counters is done using lodctr.exe. From a command line type: lodctr.exe %SQL Server Install Directory%\Binn\sqlctr.ini After the counters are loaded you'll need to restart the server for the changes to take effect. ← Everytime I use tSQLt I love it more… Chart Axis Labels in SSRS - Expressions Do Not Work → 3 Responses to MSSQLServer Performance Counter Exception - Event 2003 Malik Jackson says: October 1, 2012 at 1:22 pm I tried following your simple instructions but have run into a problem. I was able to manually unload the SQL Server performance counters with no problem. But when it came time to manually load the performance counters I keep getting the message "Unable to find initialization file C:\Program" The path in which I have SQL installed is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn" The operating system is Windows Server 2008 x64. Any help will be greatly appreciated. David Masciangelo says: October 1, 2012 at 9:02 p
