only takes a few minutes. Join Now On a Windows 2000 Server I have recently been seeing about two of these events per second in my Applications Event Log. Obviously, this makes it rather difficult to track any other errors that might appear. The Event is: Source: Perflib Category: None Type: Error Event ID: 1008 User: N/A Description: The Open Procedure for service "ASP.NET_2.0.50727" in DLL "C|WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_perf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is data DWORD 0. Data: (Bytes) 0000: c7 04 07 80 (and a few ASCII characters) (Words) 0000: 800704c7 After researching several leads on TechNet, and other sites, I installed .NET 1.0 sp3, as this problem was supposedly resolved with the release of sp3. All this did was add a new version of the above event referencing "ASP.NET_1.0.3705.6060", which essentially doubled the number of these events I am receiving. Gee thanks Microsoft. Other things I read indicate that there may be some relationship with this error and NetBEUI not being installed on the NIC. NetBEUI is installed. However, one thing that recently changed on this server was the addition of a Gigabit NIC. This server hosts DC, DHCP, and Exhcange. I disabled the new NIC and set things back to the way they were, and the problem persisted. Next, I disabled the original NIC and assigned the static IP to the new NIC, installed NetBEUI, verified the selection to register in DNS, and verifyied the Metric is set to 1 for this device. This has made no difference regarding this Error. If any of you folks have fought this battle with any success I would very much appreciate being tossed a bone here. :-) This server will be replaced in 2010 and I really would like to keep it running until then if at all possible, what with it being a rather critical part of our network and all.
