You will need to go into your FTP and navigate to wp-content > plugins. You should see a folder names akismet. Rename wordpress manual upgrade that folder to whatever you want as long as it is different. Hopefully that should enable you to access your admin again. GiacomoJames @giacomojames 9 months, 3 weeks ago Dear Matthew Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly. I've tried your suggestion, but no luck. A new error message says: Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget' not found in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/al/ly/so/allysonpollock.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp_widget.php on line 481 Would you suggest following the same procedure for MailChimp and any other plugins? Best wishes James Moderator Matthew @kidsguide 9 months, 3 weeks ago Yes, I would just disable all your plugins. You can do so by just renaming the plugins folder to plugins.hold. Moderator Samuel Wood (Otto) @otto42 WordPress.org Tech Dude 9 months, 3 weeks ago It is not an error with your plugins. Your upgrade was incomplete for some reason. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress ZIP file and do a manual upgrade. techdruid @techdruid 9 months, 3 weeks ago I've got this same error message. And I had thought that I'd be in agreement wit

Viewing 6 replies - 1 through 6 (of 6 total) epicdevspace @epicdevspace 4 months ago Hi Delete the akismet folder (located in wp-content/plugins/) You site should now be available if the host's assessment is correct. You will then need to install the latest version of akismet and activate it. M Riyaz @m-riyaz 4 months ago Hi epicdevspace, Thanks for the response, I deleted https://wordpress.org/support/topic/php-fatal-error-class-wp_widget-not-found/ the akismet folder, but no luck. The issue is still there. Even I have renamed the plugin folder but nothing works. Do I have to install and activate the plugin again than only my site will work? Currently I am unable to login the admin panel. I have only FTP and Cpanel access. Can I activate it through FTP(if required). Hope you can help further. Thanks again! Riyaz epicdevspace @epicdevspace 4 months ago Hi there I highly recommend a fresh install as it's difficult to pinpoint the issue without having access to your setup. Download the latest WordPress package or use an auto installer if your host has one available on your hosting control panel. Work in small steps so that you can quickly identify the cause of the problem should a problem occur. All the best! M Riyaz @m-riyaz 4 months ago Hi Epicdevspace, Thank you very much for your help. My site is now fixed but now it is asking for Database Update and show the below message: "Database Update Required WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version. The database update process may take a little while, so please be patient." So, what next step I should take to get it fixed? I have the backup but unable to understand how to update

Take a look here and see if that is your problem. For a quick fix: FTP into your site and either delete the plugin folder (like @Howdy_McGee suggested) or simply rename it. –kaiser♦ Oct 13 '14 at 16:17 Looks like set_url_scheme started with WP3.5, so I'm guessing that it's an old WP install. –MetalAdam Oct 13 '14 at 16:59 Thanks for this info. I've managed to manually remove the plugin. You were right. It was an old WP install. –Shelley Oct 13 '14 at 22:14 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer?
