And I have folder structure in project as: a folder called code. this folder contains all *.cxx files. Now, I have created a class xyz in header file xyz.h. And defined every thing in xyz.cxx which is placed in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7789969/fatal-error-c1083-cannot-open-include-file-xyz-h-no-such-file-or-directory code folder. But now when I try to compile it with visual studio it throws me an error "fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'xyz.h': No such file or directory". how to rectify this problem. c++ share|improve this question asked Oct 17 '11 at 6:11 Apoorva sahay 64321130 2 Where is xyz.h relative to the project and xyz.cxx files? –David Alber Oct 17 '11 at 6:17 Is your header in the same folder as your code? –Kevin Oct 17 '11 at 6:18 2 Are you using #include

The file in the second error is whichever I included first (is on top of the include list), the same goes for the first error, but its right after: (this is the "main".cpp file, where main() is and GameV2 is my fatal error c1083 project name #include "stdafx.h" #include "GameV2.h" I know there is now code, but I think I'd have to post everything :P Do you have any suggestion what should I check? c++ share|improve this question edited Oct 19 '09 at 13:21 knittl 106k25165224 asked Oct 19 '09 at 13:03 n3Xus 62 Check for any #ifdef DEBUG type macros that include iff it's in debug mode. –Paul Nathan Oct 19 '09 at 13:06 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote It seems that you're using Visual Studio. Check the include directories in project properties, for Release target. You set the proper include directories only for Debug target. share|improve this answer answered Oct 19 '09 at 13:06 Cătălin Pitiș 11.6k22658 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote You should check the "Additional include directories" - the list should usually be the same for "Debug" and "Release". share|improve this answer answered Oct 19 '09 at 13:06 sharptooth 109k50316704 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
