This library appear to build fine. However, fatal error c1083 visual c++ when trying to build the main project I get the error: fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'lualib.h': No such file or directory lualib.h is included with the directive #include "lualib.h" in the file that throws the error, and is a header file in the directory of the library. The library the following directory relative to the main projects directory:..\lualib\lualib relative to the main project directory. I have added this directory to the locations to look for header files by going to the main project preferences and adding this directory as a reference directory. Nothing stops the error, any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? For .h files you need to set the Include paths, this

up fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'xyz.h': No such file or directory? up vote 9 down vote favorite I am using visual studio 2005 to create a project. And I have folder structure in project as: a folder called https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7843071f-0767-4af4-b645-508e3ffcf56f/visual-c-fatal-error-c1083-cannot-open-include-file?forum=Vsexpressvc code. this folder contains all *.cxx files. Now, I have created a class xyz in header file xyz.h. And defined every thing in xyz.cxx which is placed in code folder. But now when I try to compile it with visual studio it throws me an error "fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'xyz.h': No such file or directory". how to rectify this problem. c++ share|improve this question asked Oct 17 '11 at 6:11 Apoorva sahay 64321130 2 Where is xyz.h relative to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7789969/fatal-error-c1083-cannot-open-include-file-xyz-h-no-such-file-or-directory the project and xyz.cxx files? –David Alber Oct 17 '11 at 6:17 Is your header in the same folder as your code? –Kevin Oct 17 '11 at 6:18 2 Are you using #include

I've read other C1083 post, but I think my is different: 1) The header file is added in my project properties under the additional includes property. 2) Another class uses the same header (Same project), and it compiles. The problem doesn't occur until I added my header file to the second header file. 3) I use the auto complete/intellesense to make a "..\include\myClass.h" file. One suggestion was the I was using the fatal error c1083 wrong path, but everything was in the same directory. I tried it anyways. All the files are in the same directory and that directory is included in the additional includes property. In essence part of the project sees it but the other part doesn't? I don't know what I am missing. c++ visual-studio-2010 share|improve this question asked Dec 16 '14 at 18:33 redDesert 1613 I'm also having this issue. But in my case, maybe its because there is a circular dependency between the header I'm including and the included header (one is a template that receives the type of the other; and the other uses the template). The error "fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'header.h': No such file or directory" however is a very bad output for this case... –Pedro Reis Jan 28 at 18:09 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted If the target "include" directory is added to "additiona includes" project property, then you really don't need the path at all. I mean, having: \myFolder\project \project.vcproj \source \myCode.cpp <- compiling this one here? \data \myDb.foo \include <- this DIR#1 \foo1.h \myClass.h <- this FILE#1 \foo2.h \lib1 \bar.h <- this FILE#2 if you added DIR#1 to "additional include directories", then: #include "myClass.h" // to include FILE#1 #include "lib1\bar.h" // to in
